NHL Prospects Tournament Finales (Crowder, Turek, Fast, Johnson, Pearce)
The NHL's Prospects Tournament in Traverse City, Mich., wrapped today, and former UAA center Paul Crowder racked an assist for the New York Rangers in a 5-4 win over the St. Louis Blues.
Crowder was +1 with four shots on goal. Figure him ticketed for Hartford of the American Hockey League, where he hooked up after signing with New York last spring following his junior season in green and gold. In four tournament games in Michigan, Crowder had that one assist and was +2 with five shots.
Former (and future?) Aces defensemen T.J. Fast and Ryan Turek played against Crowder today. Both were even, Turek managed one shot. For the tournament, Turek was +1 with four shots, Fast scored two goals and was +3 with five shots.
Former UAF goalie Chad Johnson didn't play for New York today, but on Wednesday stopped 32 shots in a 4-3 win over the Red Wings. In two tournament games, he was 2-0-0 with 2.00 goals-against average and .938 save percentage. Former Notre Dame goalie Jordan Pearce of Anchorage made one tournament appearance for Detroit, getting the loss and leaving with a 5.00 GAA and .750 save percentage.
