The White Stripes book Alaska gig. For real.
Brace yourselves: The White Stripes are bringing their brand of swaggering minimalist rock to Anchorage.
According to The White Stripes’ Web site, guitarist Jack White and drummer Meg White have booked a Sept. 24 show at the Egan Center.
A press release from Warner Bros. Records confirmed the Anchorage stop. The release said the band is on a quest to hit all the 16 states they haven’t played in before, so the route will wind its way through several Midwestern states and Alaska for the first time.
This fall’s tour promotes the band’s anticipated sixth CD, “Icky Thump,” to be released June 19. The title cut is already getting radio play and available via iTunes.
SMG Management, the Egan Center’s operating company, confirmed the show. SMG is still determining ticket prices and an on-sale date.
