Delaney Wiles Inc. has announced that Scott Gerlach was recently admitted as the firm's newest shareholder.

Gerlach received his Juris Doctor from the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law, cum laude, in 2007 and he is admitted to practice in both state and federal courts in Alaska.

He joined Delaney Wiles, Inc. as an associate attorney in June 2008. His practice focuses on business and commercial law, complex litigation, natural resources, health care law and medical malpractice defense.

Robert Moats promoted to associate broker with Western Enterprises Inc.

Robert Moats recently passed the Alaska Real Estate Broker’s Exam to become an associate broker for Western Enterprises Inc. He rose through the ranks to become a licensed salesperson and then to practice real estate in 2006. With that came the additional responsibility of being a property manager for over 45 buildings in the area.

Since then, Moats has used his construction background to represent buyers and sellers in commercial lease transactions.

Grant Gephardt passed the Alaska P.E. exam and was promoted to senior engineer. He has been with PND since completing his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 2007.

The University of Alaska System has promoted two longtime UA employees.

Erika Van Flein, formerly benefits administrator for UA Human Resources, has been named director of benefits. She replaces Mike Humphrey, who recently left the System Office to serve as executive officer for UAA Chancellor Tom Case.

Brandi Berg, formerly assistant to Board of Regents’ Executive Officer Jeannie Phillips, has been named to Phillips’ post. Phillips recently accepted a position in the UAF Chancellor’s Office.

Mary Pinkel has joined the law firm of Wohlforth, Brecht, Cartledge & Brooking as an associate.

Pinkel previously worked as an attorney advisor for the U.S. Army. Before working for the Army, she served in the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Alaska. She also served in the Anchorage Municipal Attorney’s Office. Mary has also served as an assistant attorney general for the State of Alaska.
