Lifelong Alaskan and University of Alaska alumna Kathleen Wattum has been named interim public affairs director for the University of Alaska System, Vice President for University Relations Carla Beam has

Wattum, 49, previously served as web information coordinator for the public affairs office. She has 22 years of experience at the University of Alaska in public relations, communications and marketing. She has also served as adjunct faculty teaching web design.

ANCHORAGE — Dr. Bruce Chandler, pediatrician with the Anchorage Neighborhood Health Center, has been named by the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as the 2012 CDC Childhood Immunization Champion for Alaska. After almost nine years as orthodontist and owner of Anchorage Orthodontic Associates, Dr. Jeff Symonds now begins transitioning to a new position as an orthodontist at Southcentral Foundation. Dr. Symonds sold the practice of Anchorage Orthodontic Associates, located on the corner of O’Malley Road and Old Seward Highway, in October to Dr. Warren Libby.

Sabo, currently based in Dallas, has an extensive 19-year career at CNN producing both domestic and international coverage for the 24-hour news channel, as well as holding the positions of National Assignment Editor and CNN Radio Anchor at the network’s Atlanta headquarters.

Brent Kimball recently joined First National Bank Alaska as Comptroller.
