Background: Alyeska’s Supply Chain Management Director, Dan Flodin, has received a 2012 Alumni Achievement award from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Flodin graduated from UAF with a BBA in Finance and an MBA and has volunteered on numerous UAF boards and committees since graduating. The award will be formally presented in September.

Chef Kirsten Dixon took her turn as the event’s celebrity chef Sept. 19 in UAA’s Lucy Cuddy Hall. Dixon managed the preparation of a five-course meal with a focus on Alaska ingredients, a special theme in honor of the event’s 20th anniversary.

Anchorage teacher Scott Kluever to assist with education portfolio

U.S. Sen. Mark Begich today announced Scott Kluever, 7th grade science teacher at Begich Middle School in Anchorage, has been selected to serve as an Education Fellow in Begich’s Washington, D.C. office.

JUNEAU, ALASKA—The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials named Amanda Holland chair of its Subcommittee on Personnel and Human Resources (ASHR). Holland has served as division operations manager at the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) since 2010.

AASHTO President Kirk Steudle appointed Holland after she served as ASHR’s research coordinator for three years before becoming acting vice chair in May.

DOT&PF Commissioner Marc Luiken said he was pleased with Holland’s appointment.
