For visitors planning a summer vacation to Alaska, two of the state's prime destinations have early season specials worth considering.
The Glacier Bay Lodge at Glacier Bay National Park and the Denali Park Resorts hotels at Denali National Park are offering "Twice as Nice" packages. At both locations, guests get a second night free after booking one night of lodging.
At Glacier Bay Lodge, visitors staying between May 25 and June 17 get two nights for $150. Glacier Bay is a 3.3-million acre park that is home to 16 tidewater glaciers. Reservations can be made at www.visitglacierbay.com or by calling 1-888-BAY-TOUR.
At Denali, visitors staying between May 13 and June 6 can book a room for $199 and get the second night free. There are four properties to choose from: McKinley Chalet Resort, Grande Denali Lodge, McKinley Village Lodge or Denali Bluffs Hotel. Denali National Park is 6 million acres and home to Mount McKinley, the tallest mountain in North America at 20,320 feet. Visitors also frequently enjoy seeing a variety of animals in the park, including grizzly bears, moose, caribou, wolves and Dall sheep. Reservations can be made at www.denaliparkresorts.com or by calling 1-800-276-7234.
If you're coming, you might as well come early and save some cash. Late May and early June is one of my favorite times of the year in Alaska.
