Former UAA Blueliner Vidmar Gets A New Gig (Also, Former UAA Center Crowder Signs In Wheeling)

Former UAA defenseman Luka Vidmar, who spent most of last season with ECHL Colorado, has a new gig in that league -- he's hooked up with the South Carolina Stingrays.

Vidmar last season posted 3-18--21 and +15 totals in 58 games with the Colorado Eagles. He played three games before that with Las Vegas.

Vidmar has an Alaska connection in North Charleston -- the head coach is former UAA forward Spencer Carbery. The two didn't play together in college. Vidmar, a Slovenian, is 26, and began his UAA career in 2007. Carbery, a B.C. boy, is 30, and played one season at UAA (2002-03) before transferring to Division III St. Norbert, where he was a force. He played four pro seasons and in 2009 helped the Stingrays beat the Alaska Aces in Game 7 of the Kelly Cup Finals.

Also, former UAA center Paul Crowder is back with ECHL Wheeling after a short stint (six games, one assist) in Austria. Crowder last season posted 23-27--50 totals in 57 games for Wheeling, and he also played five games for AHL Manchester.
