Let's take a break from pucks for a minute address something far more important -- namely, a fundraiser to help out a good dude going through a rough patch.
Matt Kenney of Anchorage is an experienced mountain runner who The Blog met years ago while covering that sport. Matt, a former wrestler and football player, took a bad spill coming down Mount Marathon in that annual race up and down the 3,022-foot peak in Seward this past Fourth of July, and suffered severe head and leg injuries. He's been Outside continuing to receive treatment for his injuries.
His co-workers at K&L Distributors have scheduled a fundraiser for Matt and his family for 7-10 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at Platinum Jaxx, 901 W. Sixth Ave. downtown.
There will be a silent auction, split-the-pot and other opportunities to donate to a tremendous cause. Drinks and appetizers will be available.
So, if you want to help out an Anchorage guy and his family, head on down to the event next week and contribute what you can to some folks who could use a hand.
Every little bit helps.
And, trust The Blog here, Matt is the kind of guy -- earnest, caring -- who would do that for you and yours, if roles were reversed.
