Dog Blog

The Dog Blog is a community of ordinary dog lovers who have come together to discuss our extraordinary dogs. Each Monday, a new topic is introduced. If you've got an opinion, share it. If not, look for the current "anything goes" topic and introduce a discussion of your own. On Fridays, weigh in about your training questions and successes.

Haircut fundraiser supports homeless animals

Dogblog note: Here's a press release from Anchorage Animal Care and Control:

50 Haircuts in 50 States in 50 Days Tour Returns to Anchorage

National Fundraiser comes to Anchorage to Support Homeless Animals

Need a haircut? Want to help continue a world record? Call for an appointment TODAY! Patrick Lomantini, of Lomantini The Salon, will be coming to Anchorage on Sunday, September 9th, as part of his 50 Haircuts in 50 States in 50 Days Tour. Local salon Inspirations, at 700 W. Northern Lights Blvd., will be hosting Mr. Lomantini, who will be doing the haircuts to continue his world record and raise funds for local animal shelters across the United States.

All haircuts will be done for a minimum donation of $20 to the Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center.

Mr. Lomantini began his tour on August 1, 2012, in Augusta, Maine, and hopes to complete the record on September 19, in his hometown of Wichita, Kansas. He will arrive in Anchorage after departing Washington on September 8th, and after 50 haircuts here, will continue on to Oregon. In total, he hopes to reach the goal of 1,500 haircuts to continue his world record and raise thousands of dollars in donations for U.S. animal shelters.

Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center (AACCC) is the only open door animal shelter in the Municipality of Anchorage. More information on AACCC can be found at www.muni.org/animal/.

More information on Mr. Lomantini’s tour at www.BarkAID.org. Appointments are currently being scheduled between 9:00am-9:00pm. People interested in participating should call Inspirations at 561-9499.
