Community Bulletins

The Alaska Bulletin Board is a place for announcements and items of interest to the community that reach the Daily News but that may or may not become news stories prepared by our journalists. The content usually originates with press releases from government agencies or non-profit organizations. The Bulletin Board is not intended to be a comprehensive calendar or a news report, but rather useful information our editors consider to be of sufficiently broad and immediate interest to publish here.

Look for Alaska Grown produce in stores

Palmer, AK – The Division of Agriculture would like to remind residents to look for the Alaska Grown logo in the produce section of local grocery stores.

A variety of healthy Alaska Grown vegetables are now available including broccoli, tomatoes, cucumbers, five varieties of lettuce, zucchini, cabbage and cauliflower – all delivered fresh daily to grocery stores throughout the State.

“Studies show that produce starts losing nutrients as soon as it is harvested. Our farmers’ products are delivered to retail outlets within 48 hours of harvest. When you buy Alaska Grown, you know you’re getting the freshest possible,” says Division Director Franci Havemeister.

The growing season is upon us in Alaska. Don’t miss this opportunity eat the freshest produce and support Alaska producers.
