"If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen."
There is no way to candy coat what Obama said. Liberals have tried to squirm away from this heinous statement by all possible methods. Context, rationalization, and excuses cannot change the fact Barack Obama does not believe Americans can do anything without government assistance.
Obama is at least consistent. He also does not think people end up in bad situations because of their actions either. He has launced programs to save people from bad mortgage decisions, extended unemployment benefits, and hoisted a major front on personal responsibility with Obamacare.
Obama has managed to irritate even traditional Democratic business supporters with his policy that preceded his recent rhetoric. A quote fron Steve Wynn demonstrates the point:
Democrats never go after the tort system. After all, what better way to allow people to stick it to somebody else when they do something stupid. All of that trial lawyer money just makes sure responsibility is kept on ice. And Obama is a big advocate of labor unions, especially government unions, that defend people's right to exist and make "livable wages" no matter how mediocre their performance becomes. Liberals seem to forget how powerful unions are when they cry about freedom of speech being upheld in Citizens United.
A recent story in this paper lamented the problems a big family has finding affordable housing in Anchorage. There are two examples in the story of such families. In both cases it involves an unmarried blue collar man in their early 30s with multiple children and a girlfriend. This is how the left tries to pull on your heart strings and talk about how unfair the system is.
When did it become okay to be unmarried and have multiple children at age 30? Do we need news stories spinning sympathy for bad actions? It is an all out cry for somebody to save people from their stupidity. No wonder we have the government we do.
The Obama way is to step in and do everything for people who do not want to do it themselves. Unfortunately, that can often be the Republican way as well. And in recent cases corporations and unions can be just like people when it comes to the government safety net. All you need to do is give it a fancy name like "stimulus" as if it were a psychiatry experiment.
The president has no idea what it means to build a financially successful business. He spent his life sheltered in academics, rolling around as a community organizer and had a brief political career prior to being elected. He has no understanding of business or the military and it becomes painfully obvious every time he opens his mouth.
It is remarkable that the leader of the free world does not understand that the way to breed success is to allow freedom. Government does not exist to provide the tools to make business succeed. It exists to make sure it business has the opportunity to succeed. The same right should be given to every individual.
There is a down side. That freedom also gives people and business the chance of failure.
There are times when failure reaches a point and help must be given. You know we have gone beyond that when a single parent patient tells you they stay single so they can keep scoring public assistance. You know we have gone beyond that when you see able bodied people all the time collecting disability. And yes you know we have gone beyond that when the president thinks business is built by the government.
It does make one wonder what we are defending when we do go to war. Our culture is no longer one where we are encouraged to go be successful. It is an Obama Nation where we ask the government to "build" everything for us. If you do not believe me, just ask Obama himself.
