Aces: Kissel Is Signed For The Upcoming Season

Having announced the signing of elite and returning goaltender Gerald Coleman last week, the Alaska Aces today revealed they have a returning sniper under contract for the upcoming season.

Winger Dan Kissel will return for his third season with the ECHL club.

Kissel, 25, last season led the Aces in scoring and tied with teammate (now retired) Wes Goldie for second in the league in goals with 35-33—68 totals in 70 games. Kissel also played two games up in the AHL.

Kissel two seasons ago as a rookie was acquired from Gwinnett for future considerations, which in the ECHL is often a small sum of cash – hundred bucks, maybe a couple hundred. So, basically, for next to nothing, Alaska got a bonafide goal scorer. Um, and he also helped the club seize the Kelly Cup in 2011.

In 97 career regular-season games with the Aces, Kissel has racked 46-45—91 totals.

Last season, he finished second in the league in shots on goal (278) and delivered 10 power-play goals. He also generated eight two-goal games.

Oh, and in other signing news, the AHL’s Abbotsford Heat have signed former Aces blueliner Nick Tuzzolino to a one-year deal.
