Alaska Credit Union League supports students at Alaska Business Week

Alaska Business Week runs July 14-21 on the UAF campus

Anchorage, Alaska – The Alaska Credit Union League has provided scholarships for sixteen Alaska high school students to attend Alaska Business Week, giving them the opportunity to experience a simulated corporate environment learning business, teambuilding, leadership, and life skills. Starting July 14, students will spend a week on the UAF campus living in dorms, experiencing a college environment, and earning college credit.

“Alaska Business Week is a unique opportunity for high school students with an entrepreneurial spirit. We’re proud to help the Alaska Business Week program another year and foster our state’s future business leaders,” said Lauren MacVay, Chair of the Alaska Credit Union League.

Throughout the week, students participate in small teams, or “companies,” and complete challenges with real-life business scenarios through production, marketing, and finance competitions. A team of Alaska business executives acts as advisers, working directly with the students and leading them toward a winning business strategy.

Alaska Business Week was modeled after the successful Washington Business Week program. With the help of the Alaska State Chamber of Commerce, the program expanded to Alaska in 2010. For more information about Alaska Business Week, visit www.alaskachamber.com.
