Here's How The Aces Historically Roll In Elimination Games

The Alaska Aces lead the Stockton Thunder 3-1 in the best-of-7, ECHL Western Conference semifinals and Saturday night in California have a chance in Game 5 to eliminate the Thunder.

Historically, the two-time Kelly Cup champs have been pretty effective closers, going 16-8 all-time in ECHL playoff games in which they can win a series.

Last season, the Aces went 3-0 in such situations, beating Kalamazoo in Game 5 and polishing off both Victoria and Idaho in Game 4s. The last time the Aces failed to finish off a team was a special circumstance -- a Game 7 loss to the South Carolina in the 2009 Kelly Cup Finals.

Here's how the Aces have done season-by-season when they've had an opponent on the ropes:

2011 -- 3-0
2009 -- 3-2
2008 -- 1-0
2007 -- 2-1
2006 -- 4-2
2005 -- 2-3
2004 -- 1-0
