Credit Union 1 promotes Casey and Welch

Deborah Casey has been promoted to senior vice president of lending. She has more than 20 years experience, which includes heading CU1’s Member Assistance Department (collections and account recovery) since 1995.

Casey is a member of the American Collectors Association, a certified Credit Union Financial Counselor and is certified with the Credit Union National Association as a consumer lender. She helped pioneer the Individual Development Accounts offered in conjunction with the Anchorage Urban League, and participated in the development of CU1’s Discover Financial Fitness program.

Casey will oversee and continually review all areas of consumer and real estate lending. Napier will lead the consumer lending team of 35 employees and continue working to expand and review Credit Union 1’s consumer lending programs.

Brian Welch was promoted to account recovery manager. Welch, a CU1 employee for more than 17 years, has a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Alaska Anchorage and multiple certifications from both the Alaska Credit Union League and CUNA.

Welch was previously CU1’s account recovery manager (collecting on charged-off accounts) and has received several awards of recognition for his work.

Welch will now monitor and manage loss and risk from all accounts and loans.
