We've had a nice success with Lucy. She's one of those dogs who gets very excited at walk time. She'll raise her front legs and hop in anticipation. She'll bully her way to the door to be first out.
But that behavior doesn't work when you've got two little ones at her feet. So now, I'll put Lucy in a sit-stay at the end of the couch while the Yorkies are allowed to walk up first, which they're used to. I leash the Yorkies and open the door before releasing Lucy. I can't take too much credit because she obviously had a sit-stay command before she arrived, but it was nice to see a potential problem solved so quickly. She understands the rules and is getting better every time.
I worry a little about what message that is sending her. Is she going to be resentful that the little ones get to go out first? So far, so good, but I'm keeping an eye on the situation.
What's up with your gang?
