Zoe the Zebra: The defending champion was a tiger last year.

We have some terrific entries this year, and more are expected before tonight's midnight deadline.

Here's how the judging will go:
* At midnight tonight, I'll put a "marker" in the gallery indicating the cutoff time. Any entries posted after the marker won't count.

* A panel of "elite dog costume experts" from around the office will do the judging for the prize contest. The winner will be announced Monday, Halloween day.

* For readers, a People's Champion poll will be posted on the dog blog on Saturday. You'll have until 6 p.m. Sunday to vote. The prize in this category is bragging rights ;)
