Special youth-only Fish Creek sports fishery

From a press release from the ADF&G:

A first-time youth-only sport fishery at Fish Creek will open this weekend, Aug. 6 and 7, from 6 a.m. to
6 p.m. Anglers aged 15 and younger may fish for all species, except king salmon, in the waters from Fish and Game markers at the mouth of Fish Creek upstream to
the markers a quarter-mile upstream of Knik-Goose Bay Road.

All other sport fishing regulations remain in effect for Fish Creek. The daily bag and possession limit is three salmon; only two a day may be silver salmon.

The weekends-only fishery for all anglers will open on Saturday, Aug. 13.

The Palmer Fishing Rod Lender Program loans spinning rods and fly rods free of charge to all anglers for up to a week. Gear checkout is at the Palmer Fish and Game office.

Youth-only sport fisheries have been established by the Alaska Legislature and implemented by the Board of Fisheries to provide special opportunity for young people to catch fish.
