Ed Asner due for next Alaska film

Ed Asner: Illustration: MCTEd Asner: Illustration: MCTWe received word from local thespian Ron Holmstrom about his upcoming film and news that the veteran best known from his role on the old "Mary Tyler Moore" and "Lou Grant" shows and, more recently, as the voice of the curmudgeonly old man (who notable resembled the actor) in the animated film "Up," Ed Asner, will have a role in it. Ron says:

"We got confirmation this morning that Edward Asner will star in our feature film production of 'The Doppelganger Principle,' which will film in Anchorage during March and April 2011. With the exception of Asner, this will be produced with an entirely Alaskan cast and crew. The terrific court room drama/thriller was penned by new local screenwriter, Jim McLain.

"While Asner is here, we will also be presenting his one-man FDR show on Sunday, April 17 in the Discovery Theatre.

"Since Ed now has a new TV series, recently played the part of Warren Buffet in HBO's forthcoming 'Too Big to Fail' and was just featured in the Hollywood Reporter's Anniversary Edition with James Earl Jones and Betty White as Hollywood Living Legends, we are pretty excited to have him.

"I have been speaking with Ed for the past few months and he absolutely LOVES the script and his character. We finally made the deal today with his manager. The stars are finally aligned and we are off and running."

Doppelganger productions is Holmstrom, Jan Welt and Tiffany Guinn.
