Lars
Owner Pamela Mersch and Lars will be competing in Conformation at the AKC/Eukanuba National Championships scheduled for this weekend, Dec. 4-5, in Long Beach, Calif.
As a way of acknowledging Alaskans' incredible achievements, this week the Dog Blog is introducing some of the Alaska competitors in a Q&A format.
Here's more on Pamela and Lars. Lars is not only handsome, but he's smart enough to have filled out this Q&A by himself :).
Kennel's name: Arctic Tern Corgis
Dog's registered name: Ch Arctic Tern's Llwelnn O CYMRU
Call name: Lars
Breed: Pembroke Welsh Corgi
Dog's age: 2 years
Hometown: Soldotna
Handler/owner: Pamela R Mersch

Event you'll be competing in at the AKC/Eukanuba Nationals: Conformation
How long have you been showing/competing with dogs? 4 Years
Always same breed? Corgi's and Golden Retrievers
Top finishes/titles/honors: AKC Champion BBE
Best features/attributes: Handsome and mellow. Until I get into warp mode while swimming or running through the woods hunting for Spruce Grouse and bunnies with my buddy Darby (Golden Retriever). My mom (CH Mavrik's Red Ruby) and I compete with the frisbee and any other toy we can get someone to throw for us. I've tried a little bit of sheep herding and on my way to the dog show we'll get to try some more... a little R & R before the big show!
First time to Eukanuba Nationals? Yes, This is our first time!
Goals for the show? Mom's goal is to do "our" best, have a good time. I hope to meet my dad (CH Twinan Another Chance for Salvenik). The first time was in a test tube and I don't remember much. But I've been told we look alike. I'm also going to try "my" best to look bored while in the ring and shuffle my feet and perk up only when mom gives me my treats.
Anything else people should know about you and your dog? I really do not like rumble strips. My mom says I'm just being neurotic but everyone sure drives better! While at home I love to sit out back on the deck and watch for the squirrels. I chase them away from the bird feeders. When the chickens get to come out, I watch out for bad birds or other critters that like chicken dinner. My mom, Ruby, barks at leaves. Life is good.
