Chugiak senior Greg Ghramm has basically spent three full seasons as the Mustangs' featured back, and get a load of the career rushing totals he has produced.
Ghramm has lugged the ball a remarkable 610 times in his varsity career and delivered 3,259 yards and 34 rushing touchdowns.
Ghramm possesses decent speed, but his real forte -- other than his durability -- is how hard he hits the hole, doesn't often go down on first contact and consistently moves the pile.
In eight games this season, Ghramm has carried the ball 233 times -- two carries shy of last season's career high 235 carries in 11 games -- for an average of 29+ carries per game and 17 touchdowns.
He has rushed for 1,410 yards this season and averages 6.1 yards per carry. That places him second in the Cook Inlet Conference to Service's stunningly quick and dangerous Michael McCrae. McCrae has rushed 177 times for 1,468 yards, a whopping 8.3 yards per carry, and 17 touchdowns. Basically, the guy's a first down in a jersey.
And here's one measure of how dominating McCrae and Ghramm have been compared to their fellow backs in the CIC -- no other Anchorage-area back has rushed for even half as many yards as either of those guys and no one else has rushed for half as many touchdowns.
