What would you do if someone took money from your 401K, putting in an IOU? Promised to put it back in ten or twenty years. Don’t call the FBI. The FBI’s boss, President Obama just did that with your social security trust funds. Washington spent your money on federal expansion, leaving us worthless paper. Mr. Obama is not the only culprit creating funny money. It is a Washington disease, going on for decades.
Liberals want to extend the start date when Americans qualify for Social Security. Used to be, you could retire at 65. Now it is 67. When they set the retirement age at 75, most folks will be dead before qualifying. But, that would free up a lot more money to spend on pet projects.
Joe Miller recognizes the bankruptcy of Social Security and wants to solve the Grand Theft. Liberals call him an EXTREMIST. If that’s the case, then count me an extremist too. Joe says it is past due to reform Social Security. Is that a nefarious plot of people who drink tea? No, just common sense applied to Washington sized problems.
Raising three kids in Alaska, educating them through our schools and on to college, made me a huge supporter of excellent education for our children. After all, my wife was a substitute teacher at the Anchorage School District. She “educated” me and “adjusted” my priorities as wives have a tendency to do. We agree that the local school board, not the federal government, best controls education.
Why send a buck to Washington to pay the overhead of the federal Dept. of Education and get a few pennies back to our local schools? They don’t teach anything at the Department of Education. They do not graduate seniors. They don’t have schools, just Washington “advisors”. Advice is cheap except when it comes from Washington D. C. These advisors couldn’t find Little Diomede Island, their local school or understand that Yupik culture is the foundation of education on Little Diomede. They’d be shocked to learn that these Alaskan villagers do see Russia from their front door, 2.4 miles away.
Do we need feds to help us teach kids in Anaktuvuk Pass? Let’s just say no to Washington and save the overhead. Joe Miller recognizes this overreaching imperial power grab and has the guts to speak the truth. You can tell that liberals are at risk of losing power. That’s when they call Joe, me, and many others who drink a little tea now and then extremists. Another cup please.
Now that Governor Sean Parnell, a really stable, smart and productive guy endorsed Joe Miller, he will also be labeled an extremist. After all, he and Joe and Don Young fight the federal lock up of our land as a pristine playground for polar bears. The Obama Administration kills jobs in Alaska. They stopped offshore drilling dead that would have created hundreds of new, well paying jobs this year. But Obama demands more oil taxes, a favorite energy source to mainline more federal spending. Is it extreme, as Sean Parnell and Joe Miller and Don Young advocate, to return more of the decision making to the states on land, habitat and environmental protection? I support their demand that Washington recognize states rights and the constitution for its restriction on federal power.
The United States Constitution, Amendment 10 - Powers of the States and People,: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
Conservatives relish the fight to stop Washington’s unquenchable unrelenting thirst for centralized power. We invite all Alaskans to risk the extremist label by joining the fight to clean up and control our bloated federal government.
President Ronald Reagan said it best. “In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.”
