Bookter T concert

Isn't it surprising that the ADN didn't send a reviewer to the fantastic Booker T Jones concert on Sunday night when ADN featured Booker T as a front page article in the weekend Play section? It didn't even get an online Artsnob mention. From the reaction of the audience (multiple standing ovations, hoots, hollers), this concert was thoroughly enjoyed by the attendees. If you love blues, rock, or even rap, too bad if you weren't there - it was great. What a bunch of talented people & what a really tight band. The concert really took off when Booker T got up from the organ and started singing the blues. It got even better when he picked up his shiny blue guitar. The band consisted of two excellent electric guitarists, a with-it bass player, talented drummer, master organist - wow - what a sound they created. I'm bad about remembering song titles, but his singing was so strong and soulful that Booker T could be easily heard over the extremely loud band (but loud in a good way). Unfortunately, the drummer's rapping was drowned out, but he sure gave it his all. If anyone is good about song titles, please supplement this review. I know they did Green Onions, which was a thrill to hear in person. The concert was great and UAA students deserve a shout-out for getting Booker T to make his first trip to Alaska and for putting on a first class show. Don't miss his next show if he comes back!
