Big issues remain to be dealt with before the Legislature has to adjourn its 2010 regular session by midnight. Legislators still need to deal with cruise ship taxes, college scholarships, disclosing corporate campaign activity and more.
But less controversial issues are being cleared first, including House Bill 14 to designate the Alaskan Malamute as the official state dog. It just passed the Senate and it's already passed the House, so it's going to the governor to be signed into law.
Anchorage Republican Sen. Con Bunde argued for the Husky instead but he lost.
