Child porn suspect arrested trying to skip town

Matthew PierceMatthew Pierce

Police say they've arrested an Anchorage man on a child porn charge as he was preparing to skip town. Here's a press release police spokesman Lt. Dave Parker sent out a short while ago:

Anchorage Police Department Police Cyber Crimes Unit detective Tammy Dunn, while doing on-line undercover work discovered that child pornography was being shared from an Internet Protocol (IP) address in Anchorage on 9-2-09.

In her investigation, she discovered that the IP address was attached to an address on Lunar Drive and a search warrant was obtained and the residence searched.

Detectives discovered that Matthew Pierce, a 22 year old had been residing at the address since July, 2009, and that he possessed a collection of child pornography. They seized the computer equipment for forensic analysis.

Working with the Airport Police, Det. Dunn determined that after the search warrant was served on 9-24-09, Pierce began arranging a flight out of Anchorage to his former state of Idaho. He was scheduled to leave Alaska in the early morning hours of 9-25-09. An arrest warrant was obtained for a single count of Possession of Child Pornography and it was served immediately, before he could leave state.

Detectives are continuing their forensic analysis of evidence seized.
