Sen. Murkowski sounds off on health care reform

Sen. Lisa Murkowski spent more than an hour talking with the Daily News editorial board Thursday about health care reform. She says constituents seem to be anxious not just about what Congress is doing with health care, but also about piled-on government spending aimed at getting us out of recession, from TARP to the clunkers program.

In the end, she says, even though she has serious disagreements with some of the proposed health care legislation, we can’t just put it aside for another new president 10 years down the road. She believes we’re on an unsustainable course of rising costs.

She hopes a Senate Finance Committee bill still being shaped will provide an acceptable alternative.

EXCERPT: How to make health care reform work in current climate (3:59)

Health reform and how it effects some of a society!.

We are disabled later seniors, how does health care effect us.Well since these health care drug plans came about, the costs of medication's have increased by $2.00.each.The controllers are,the drug plans themselves. They fully control, how the doctors write the prescriptions,by dictating them. The drug plans, can approve or disprove, any medication they wish to.They secretly decreased,my stroke and heart attack preventive, medications to their "GENERIC" formula and with in 3 weeks, I was in emergency with a serious stroke. The state costs, have exceeded $9,569.00 so far, treatment's is until my death!!!.Or until the drug plan denys another, life threatening medication.

We read your health care

We read your health care forum ,it appeared strange ,but with a little hope. Then you entirely blew it by telling us all we have to wait another 10 years for another president, that is very bad trying to fortell the future.I sure hope your predictions are far from true.In 10 years, we will have no more money left, for even health care. That is being adjusted ,reformed so more funds can go toward, this evil war.I know we have never had a president, that has spent as much money,in such a extremly short time!!!.NO WONDER THIS HEALTH REFORM BILL, CAME UPON US AT RECORD BREAKING SPEED, BEFORE ANY ADJUSTMENTS, COULD BE MADE.

Well now Leisa ,M. we have istened and read, all your comments .Now we ask do you have any idea, what any of these health issues, are abut?.We listen to you and ot appears like babling, uncertain,to not actually having any concept beyond your political goals,to be seen by severial people, as a voting platform. We would sure like to see and hear, what you actually care and know, about any issues. We believe if you can get down off your political horse, and speak the truth, about what you actually know, verses what your political strong hold is about. We sure do not actually hear much basic overall knowledge at all?.Do you know anyone, utilizing the entire health system,?at their level of life as it is down here?.

health care reform and Liza

While Liza does seem to be for the citizens in some of
her viewpoints..on healthcare she seems to not get
it. Saying at her last tow hall forum on the healthcare
issue..she said just call her in anyone in Alaska could
not find a way to get needed healthcare. Would LIza
have been available and able to help..in the dire situation
of the senior citizen who had Medicare and a supplemental insurance be able to get timely medical
care when this person was visiting Alaska and could
not after many call to doctors get the healthcare the
emergency room doctor in Alaska said she needed?

Heath Care reform needs agressive action

With the situation we have in this country, we can not pick apart Health Care Reform and separate each individual problem and tackle it one at a time. That would be nice but we don't have the time. Strong , aggressive action is needed to turn this around. That doesn't mean we can't be thoughtful, but we need to work together, being diligent, not self serving and get the job done quickly.

A public option is most definitely needed to control costs and to sort through the waste and corruption already occurring in Medicare, and the insurance companies. It will not start out a perfect plan, but it can be fine tuned and tweeked as we see what does and doesn't work. That is just how thisgs get done. All the bickering, accusations, diversions and down right lies are despicable. Politicians must put aside their partisanship, and do their job, which is to serve and protect the American citizens.

Senator Murkowski; please stop your balancing act and work with this administration to have Health Care Reform be a success. We have needed this for decades, and always bowing to the Republican pressure, solely to not support anything our President is doing is wrong. You will show your compassion and strength by doing what is right, and in the long run it will benefit you personally and politically.

Health Care Reform

Affordable health care should be the right of every American. What is not sustainable is the rising costs. Those costs are a threat to the financial well being of every American family. United Health Care is wanting to go to a 65/35 coinsurance level. Can you pay 35% of your medical bills? When major illness happens, it is financially devastating. I spent 28 yrs in managed care.I watched one of the biggest health insurers operate so inefficiently I never went back. Families and businesses can't afford the rising costs. Real reform is critical to our jobs. Americans are known for how hard we work. Giving big chunks of our income to the health care industry so their profits can soar even higher and pay even more millions more to their CEOs make sense to anyone? That's the definition of evil to me. It will take the Public Option to make them be competative. Don't like something in the bill? Work to see it taken out. Americans continuing to go bankrupt from healthcare costs should be enough to signal how bad we need a new plan.

ObamaCare violates the

ObamaCare violates the privacy rights of every American:

Section 431(a) of the bill says that the IRS must divulge taxpayer identity information, including the filing status, the modified adjusted gross income, the number of dependents, and "other information as is prescribed by" regulation. That information will be provided to the new Health Choices Commissioner and state health programs and used to determine who qualifies for "affordability credits."

Section 245(b)(2)(A) says the IRS must divulge tax return details -- there's no specified limit on what's available or unavailable -- to the Health Choices Commissioner. The purpose, again, is to verify "affordability credits."

Section 1801(a) says that the Social Security Administration can obtain tax return data on anyone who may be eligible for a "low-income prescription drug subsidy" but has not applied for it.

Obamacare

Bishop Harry Jackson, a minister in DC who works closely with Martin Luther King's niece, Dr. Alveda King, puts this whole health care debate in proper perspective. I encourage you to listen to what he has to say about the issue, including his own personal story about how ObamaCare would have affected his life. He also puts abortion into the mix because the truth is, although President Obama continues to say that abortion is not in the health care bill, he's being disingenuous. Obama knows what some people do not know: unless the bill specifically states that abortion is NOT to be covered, it MUST be covered. Bishop Jackson exposes how this health care bill will affect the unborn--particularly Black babies. He calls the bill as it stands "ungodly and evil." Hmmm...Seems he's come to the same conclusion as Governor Palin. Watch it for yourself below.
