Police and federal officials caught a man wanted on numerous felony charges of fraud and forgery after a brief pursuit through Midtown Monday evening, according to police.

Michael Duane Rogers, 29, was arrested on charges of failure to stop, second-degree burglary and resisting arrest in addition to those from his previous warrants, police said.

Police say they got a tip that Rogers was in the 5700 block of Tinian Street in the Manoogs Isle Mobile Home Park and an officer, accompanied by a U.S. Marshal, responded.

They saw several people, including Rogers, leave the home and began to follow a pickup they left in. At some point, the driver of the pickup noticed he was being followed and “began making lewd gestures,” at his tail, according to police.

Officials tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver took off, speeding on Lake Otis Parkway, at one point entering the oncoming lanes of traffic, police said. Police backed off but later found the vehicle abandoned but still running in the area of 18th Avenue and Sunrise Drive.

Two people had broken into a home in the 1800 block of Alder Street, and police found their man there.

A woman found with Rogers at the residence, identified as Tera Norvelle, 23, was arrested on charges of second-degree burglary and resisting arrest and booked with her bail set at $5,000.

Rogers was booked at the Anchorage jail with his bail at $165,000.
