Alaska Politics Blog

This is the place to talk about Alaska politics, state, local, national. Public life in the Last Frontier has rarely been more interesting -- a full slate of federal and state elections, the influence of former Gov. Sarah Palin, the usual hardball Alaska politics. Come here for news, tidbits and information, and join the discussion. We encourage lively debate, but please keep it civil and stay on point. Don't use profanity, make crude comments or attack other posters. Posts that violate the Terms of Use will be deleted. Repeat offenders will lose their ability to post comments.

Bring on the truthiness

From Erika Bolstad in Washington D.C. --

From Gov. Sarah Palin's Twitter account: "Getting ready to tape shout-out for our awesome US troops serving overseas! Will be on 'Colbert Report' next month, broadcast from Iraq…"

Palin's spokesman Bill McAllister said she just taped the "shout out," and it is expected to air sometime in June. She will not actually appear live on the Comedy Central show, from Iraq. But the Colbert Report's website, Colbert Nation, hints the show and its host will be spending some time visiting the troops in the Persian Gulf: "Stephen got a special invitation from General Petraeus himself, and his location will be top secret!"
