Masked gunman sticks up Fairbanks hotel

Alaska State Troopers are looking for an armed robber who held up the Extended Stay Deluxe hotel in Fairbanks on Tuesday night.

Troopers say the robber entered the hotel on Old Airport Way a little after 10 p.m. brandishing a handgun but did not point it at the clerk. The robber demanded money and the security tape, then ran off with an undisclosed amount of cash and the VCR along with the tape.

Troopers and Fairbanks police responded and set up a perimeter but were unable to find the robber.

The robber was wearing gloves and a mask that covered his entire head, according to a trooper report.

Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said she was unable to find out what type of mask the suspect was wearing.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call troopers at 451-5100.
