To the rescue: cats and dogs

Carol Hawn-Miller and Cindy Liggett are local animal advocates who work to save the lives of homeless cats and dogs. In 2001 they founded Kitty and K-9 Connection, a non-profit rescue/foster/adoption program. In this blog, they will discuss the issues around the numerous homeless cats and dogs in Anchorage, and the process of placement, including animal and human behaviors that lead to success or failure. They are pictured here with Gladys on Carol's knee, Cherri in the middle, and Ambrosia the cat on Cindy's lap.

2008 Placement Counts for Kitty and K-9

We placed 120 dogs and 94 cats in 2008...Not bad for a small rescue group with a few very devoted volunteers and limited funds.
I will keep you updated as I plow through all the stuff for taxes (one of my numerous jobs). Eventually we will have an idea how much we received in (greatly appreciated) donations, how much was spent on vet bills, pet supplies, etc. We are considering a "data entry" party just to catch me up again...after my recent computer issues...smile...but I am working on it!
I can't help it that I always have BAD computer karma. Recently I proved again not to be very "computer friendly" and today had to send my computer home with Graham (our computer genius friend) to be fixed...hopefully, I have not lost all the Quickbooks stuff again...or have to get another hard-drive (it would be hard-drive #3).
Goodnews is that Jennifer (who works with me) has it figured out that I am a cat-ass-trophe when it comes to computers...so she has been doing some backing-up of KKC files...thanks buddy! It is wonderful to have friends that don't judge...they just fix the mess.
Anyway...wanted to share the 2008 adoption numbers with everyone...great news. It warms the heart to occasionally look at the numbers just to see what we as a team accomplished. All of these adopted dogs and cats have actually been given the opportunity to have a new and wonderful life. YaHoo!!
Updates will come eventually...smile...Carol
