Location: Ketchikan

Case number: 09-15435

Type: Resisting Arrest and DUI

Text: On 2/24/2009 at approximately 2000 hours, an ABADE Investigator
observed a vehicle for erratic driving and several moving violations on
Tongass Avenue in Ketchikan. The Investigator followed the vehicle and
contacted the driver near a residence at 6th Avenue and Jefferson
Street. The driver was identified as 38 year old Christopher D. Davis
of Ketchikan. Davis attempted to evade the Investigator on foot and
later resisted arrest. Subsequent investigation revealed Davis was
under the influence of alcohol. Davis was later remanded at the
Ketchikan Correctional Center and was later released O/R.

Text: On 2/25/09 Felica Smith (34 YOA) of Klawock and Daniel Galos (44
YOA) of Craig were arrested in Klawock on an outstanding warrant for

Type: Death Investigation
Text: On 2/24/09 at approximately 0820 hours Troopers responded to a
residence in Wasilla for a reported death. 51 year old Carolann Mahoy
of Wasilla was discovered deceased in her residence by her husband. The
SME was contacted and the body has been released to her husband. No foul
play is suspected.

Case number: 09-15614

Type: Burglary II, Theft III, Criminal Mischief V

Text: On 02-25-2009 at approximately 1515 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a residence located off Knik River Rd, near Palmer, for a
report of a burglary. Investigation revealed forced entry into a
storage shed by prying open a locked door. Approximately $200 worth of
hand tools were stolen from the property. Damage to the shed was
estimated at $30. Investigation of this case is ongoing. Anyone with
information regarding this case is asked to contact the Alaska State
Troopers at 745-2131 or Crime Stoppers at 745-3333.

Type: DUI, Refuse Chemical Test, DWLS, Disorderly Conduct

Text: On 2-25-09 at 1507 hours, AST contacted a vehicle in the ditch at
mile 5 Old Glenn Hwy. Investigation revealed that 55 year old Steven E.
Lease of Palmer was driving while intoxicated with a suspended license,
and later refused a breath test. Lease was arrested for DUI, Driving
with License Suspended, and Disorderly Conduct for fighting with the
Trooper. He was additionally charged with Refusal. He was remanded at
Matsu Pretrial on $1500 cash only bail.

Case number: 09-15482

Type: Alcohol Importation and Probation Violation

Text: On 2/24/09, at about 1650 hours, the Gambell VPO received a
complaint that Nicholas Oozeva was on a commercial flight, inbound for
Gambell, and had a bottle of alcohol. The VPO contacted Oozeva, age 25
of Gambell, and seized a bottle of Monarch Canadian. Oozeva was
subsequently arrested for Alcohol Importation and two counts of
probation violation. Oozeva is to be transported to Nome and lodged at
Anvil Mountain Correctional Center and lodged with no bail.

Location: Manokotak
Case number: 09-15211
Type: Assault II/Assault IV

Text: On 02/23/09, approximately 2324 hrs., the Manokotak VPSO responded
to a report of an assault which had occurred in Manokotak.
Investigation revealed that a 17 yoa juvenile male had assaulted a 15
yoa juvenile female when he pushed her to the ground, causing pain and
injury, and then strangled her, causing pain and fear of serious
physical injury or death. The 17 yoa male was arrested and turned over
to the custody of Juvenile Intake in Dillingham. The investigation is
on-going.

Location: Nome

Case number: 09-15392

Type: Search and Rescue

Text: On 2/24/09, at approximately 1630 hours, the Alaska State Troopers
received a report that Tim Lawrence, 44 yoa of Anchorage, who was
hunting in the Cripple Creek area needed help. Nome AST was advised
that Lawrence had been hunting in the area for several days and was
maintaining contact with a friend in Nome via a "Spot Locator". The
Spot Locator is a GPS signaling device that allows for emergency contact
via satellite signals. The device allows a preset text message to be
sent via email to update family members and friends of trip status as
well as current GPS coordinates. Lawrence sent a signal from the device
indicating that he was in need of rescue. Nome Volunteer Search and
Rescue sent a hasty team to the coordinates that had been broadcast from
the Spot Locator. Lawrence was located stuck in a creek. Lawrence was
tired and wet, but uninjured and brought to Nome with Rescue personnel.
Nome AST appreciates the fast response from the Nome Volunteer Search
and Rescue group and Lawrence's preparedness for his trip.

Type: Search and Rescue

Text: On 2-24-09, at about 2230 hours, it was reported to Bethel AST
that Gabriel Jimmie of Kipnuk and his six year old son has left Kipnuk a
one snow machine and had not arrived in Chefornak. A HASTY team from
Kipnuk and Chefornak were launched to search for the Jimmie's. At about
0100 hours, the Chefornak HASTY team had located the Jimmie's. They had
gotten lost due to the bad weather that had moved in. All arrived in
Chefornak safe.

Type: Overdue Snow Machine

Text: On 2-24-09 at about 2250 hours it was reported to Bethel AST that
Carl Mann and Clarence Mann of Hooper Bay had left via one snow machine
and had not arrived in Scammon Bay. A HASTY team was assembled to
search of the Mann's. Before the HASTY team was able to launch the
Mann's arrived in Scammon Bay. Weather had hampered their travel. They
arrived with no injuries.

Type: Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance 4th Degree

Text: On Tuesday, 2-24-09, at about 1950 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to an Eagle Drive residence for a burglary. During the course
of that investigation the victim 48 YOA Lisa Kirsten Wietfeld of Kodiak
reported a burglary, theft and criminal mischief at her residence.
During the investigation, State Troopers subsequently seized several
marijuana plants and related growing equipment from the residence. A
charge of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree
will be forwarded to the District Attorney's Office for prosecution.

Text: On Tuesday, 2-24-09, at about 1859 hours, Alaska State Troopers
received a report that an Eagle Drive residence had been broken into
sometime earlier in the day and that approximately $400.00 in cash and
=BD ounce of marijuana was stolen from the residence. Investigation
Continues.

Type: Assault 4

Text: On 2/25/09, State Troopers in Kotzebue were contacted by an adult
female who reported that she had been assaulted by another adult female
at a local residence. The victim sustained minor injuries as a result
of the assault. Alcohol was involved with this incident and State
Troopers are continuing to investigate the matter.

Type: Assault 4 - D.V., Reckless Endangerment - D.V.

Text: On 2/25/09, State Troopers in Kotzebue were contacted by an adult
female who reported that she had been assaulted by a family member. An
investigation revealed that Carl L. Snyder, 27 yoa, of Selawik, had
physically assaulted a family member while holding an infant child.
Snyder was arrested by local VPO's and later transported to Kotzebue
where he was remanded at the Kotzebue Regional Jail. Alcohol was
involved with this incident. The victim sustained minor injuries which
did not require medical attention.

Case number: 09-15427

Type: Assault 4th degree DV, DUI, Refusal, Endangering the welfare of a
minor 1st degree X 2, Criminal mischief 5th degree

Text: On 2/24/09 at about 1923 hours, AST received a 911 call about a
domestic assault in progress. Investigation showed that Alissa M. Way,
31, of Fairbanks, had been driving while intoxicated with her two small
children in the car. She then came home and got into a fight with a
male family member, whom she tried to bite and hit. After being
arrested, Way refused to provide a breath sample, and became violent
during the breath testing process, damaging a phone jack at the AST
post. Way taken to FCC, where she was held without bail.

Type: Missing Person
Text: On 2/24/09 at 1637 hours AST received a report of a missing person
from North Pole. Walter Elwood Alexander, age 68, has been missing
since 1200 hours on 2/23/09 with his bike and dog. The last known
location of Alexander was on 2/23/09 between 1700 and 1800 hours when he
was seen leaving the Refinery Bar in North Pole on foot. Alexander is a
white male, 5' 11" tall, 210lbs. He has receding gray hair and was clean
shaven when he left the residence. He is wearing a black cloth jacket,
blue jeans, a gray and black wool winter hat, and either white tennis
shoes or bunny boots. He has no tattoos or scars. Alexander is traveling
with a small black fluffy dog and a black ten speed bike with special
modified handlebars. Alexander is known to travel area trails and was
reported to be suffering from dementia. Anyone with information is
asked to call AST Fairbanks.

Type: Motor Vehicle Crash - Damage

Text: On 02-20-09 at approximately 1330 hours, Daniel SIRMANS, 57 of
Fairbanks, lost control of a 2004 Jeep Liberty near mile 327 of the
Parks Highway and rolled into the ditch. SIRMANS was reportedly wearing
his seat belt and he avoided injury. SIRMANS will be cited for Basic
Speed Too Fast For Conditions. Investigation complete.

Type: Disorderly Conduct / Assault 4th on Police Officer / Probation
Violation
Text: On 2/25/09 at approximately 0051 hrs, AST received a report that
Michael D. Medcoff, age 40 of Nikiski, was combative and out of control
at a residence in Nikiski. AST responded and upon contact with Michael
Medcoff he was found to be combative and impaired by alcohol. Michael
Medcoff was ultimately arrested for Disorderly Conduct and Assault 4th
on a Police Officer.

Case number: 09-15086

Type: Death Investigation

Text: On 2-23-09 at approximately 1613 hours, Troopers responded to a
reported suicide at a Ninilchik residence. Troopers investigation
revealed Erik Kristensen, 69 yoa of Ninilchik, had died from a
self-inflicted gunshot to the head. Next of Kin was notified and
Kristensen's body was released to the Kenai Peninsula Mortuary.
Troopers also discovered a commercial marijuana grow inside the
residence while investigating the death. No foul play is suspected.

Case Number: 09-14720
Type: DV Assault 4, Criminal Trespass 1
Text: On 2/22/09 AWT and AST Troopers in Tok responded to the Tok
Mainstreet Motel after receiving a report of a possible domestic
disturbance in progress. Investigation revealed that Gordon T. Burfoot,
24 yoa of Tok, had placed a female, C.E., in fear of imminent physical
injury during a verbal argument and additionally had entered her
dwelling unlawfully. Burfoot was placed under arrest for Assault 4
involving domestic violence and Criminal Trespass 1 involving domestic
violence and lodged at the Tok holding facility pending arraignment.
