To the rescue: cats and dogs

Carol Hawn-Miller and Cindy Liggett are local animal advocates who work to save the lives of homeless cats and dogs. In 2001 they founded Kitty and K-9 Connection, a non-profit rescue/foster/adoption program. In this blog, they will discuss the issues around the numerous homeless cats and dogs in Anchorage, and the process of placement, including animal and human behaviors that lead to success or failure. They are pictured here with Gladys on Carol's knee, Cherri in the middle, and Ambrosia the cat on Cindy's lap.

A Chance Weekly Update

Chance at 7 weeksChance at 7 weeks
Chance had his vet appointment today and the vet says he looks better, but there is still concern over his feet. It looks like some of his pads may heal, but for the mostpart, he may lose all his toes and many of his pads. It is still a wait and see game. His ear fell off today and the tail will probably be next.

Chance goes back in again next Thursday for another recheck and Dr. Law says there is a possibility he may have his first surgery on Friday, barring any infections he may catch. As long as I can keep him healthy and eating during his recuperation.

He is such a happy little guy, he wakes me up in the middle of the night sitting on my chest screaming for me to get up. He usually has to use the litterbox, then he's ready for food, which I happily oblige. He weighed in today at 1#1/2 ounce, so he is slowling gaining. More later.
