So I got this really nice cat, named Topanga, who was already spayed. So many of the cats that come into rescue aren't, so when one does come in, it's a bonus.
I've been dragging Topanga out to all the Meet & Greets so she can get adopted. A couple of weeks ago, the unthinkable happened....she came into heat. How can this be, I asked, this cat is suppose to be spayed. I'm thinking, thank God no one adopted her, it would be so embarassing to get that phone call telling me I adopted out a 'spayed' cat and now she's in heat.
I took her to the vet Tuesday to get spayed and Dr. Froeschle says to Dr. Payne, 'this cat already has a spay scar'. Dr. Payne tells him that 'Cindy said the cat came into heat'. We're thinking maybe the cat had another type of surgery, so he proceeds to open her up and finds that whoeever spayed her the first time left an ovary. She may not have been able to get pregnant (which we didn't know at the time), but she sure was driving me nuts when she did come into heat.
Nothing like being spayed twice.
