Anchorage police are investigating the death of a woman who was discovered on the floor of her home this weekend.
A friend found Irene Duncan, 38, on the floor of her home in the 4300 Block of Arctic Boulevard and called officers at about 2:10 p.m. Saturday, police said.
Detectives say there was no obvious cause of death, but the department’s major crime scene team was deployed to the home to collect evidence.
Lt. Dave Parker said that step was taken as a precaution in advance of an autopsy likely being conducted today. The death did not appear suspicious, but because it was not witnessed or expected police needed to be thorough, he said.
"I'm relatively sure there will not be any nonsense associated with her death," he said.
The investigation is continuing.
