In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953,
about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were up and exterminated.
China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million
political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and
exterminated.
Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000
Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and
exterminated.
Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000
Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million 'educated' people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century
because of gun control: 56 million.
It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in:
Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent
Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent
Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!
In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300
percent. Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in,
the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!
It will never happen here? I bet the Aussies said that too!
While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.
There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.
You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians
disseminating this information.
Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes,
gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.
With Guns...........We Are "Citizens".
Without Them........We Are "Subjects".

I dont know about Obama,
but Pelosi is not smart enough to know that if the Dems were to make any real play at taking our guns, it would signal the end of the Dem party for good.
Wisconsin and Michigan for example, would turn red quicker than you can say "deer carcass". A few city-dwelling Yuppies would turn in the handgun their wives have been withholding sex over, but that's about it.
Americans will NOT give up their guns. No way, now how!

I don't think
it's going to be a matter of "giving up the guns" exactly, but laws so tough that you won't be able to buy anything (they outlaw certain type of weapons), or shoot what you have (again because it is now illegal to shoot THAT gun), or you can't buy ammo. for what you have. Think of the State law that we have here for instance that we can carry concealed weapons without a permit.....That probably makes Obama wet his pants when he thinks about it. The laws will slowly close in.....slowly....stock up folks

I cant see any sort of bans or excessively restrictive laws working even as well as did Prohibition. There is too much money in it and too much demand for it.
As far as it happening "slowly", and it would have to, I doubt liberals will be in power long enough for it to come to fruition.
It's almost comical to see all the stocking up that's been taking place since the election. We do seem to have a natural tendency to over-react. Such was demonstrated before AND after the election.

Way too paranoid for me....
No one is going to take away our guns. These paranoid post always come around when a Dem takes office and gun dealer make mucho $$$. I see nothing wrong with a dealer having to do background checks etc... and the type of firearms should be regulated as they are. If it's for home protection everyone should have a viable means to protect their family. No as far as all the above references go. If you think you hand gun hunting rifle will protect you from some evil foreign invader then you are living in a cave. Good luck defending yourself when your up against grenade launchers, tanks etc. I guess I ask the question other than the robber or psycho that may invade your space, who do you think we should worry about? The Russians?

You better learn how to Kalinka Malinka and drink Vodka. What's it like living with all this fear? I really want to know? It's all doom and gloom. You remind of those people who in 2000 through some biblical reference thought the end of the world was going to go down. All the food they stashed should be well past the expiration date. If your brain were a pie chart I bet 2/3 of your brain chemistry is filled with all these negative Obama images and scenarios. 16 out of 24 hours per day you are consumed with all this gloomy doomy stuff which means 243 days of a year this is what consumes your thought process. I voted Obama but If McCain won I would know that some good would come out of his term. I would like to know what if any good could possibly come from Obama. In a previous post of your you said market tanking was a reaction to Obamas plan. It's Obamas fault. When the Market went up 500 points after the election who do you give credit? everything is f's up in part thanks to ALL our leaders in Gov. Not just congress. I guess I just really want to know how one becomes like you in your views?

Pay attention this time: The market tanked because "it" knew, in November, 2007, that 2008 would see the election of a Liberal president. McCain OR Clinton OR Obama. That was the kiss of death. Smart money got out. Stupid money stayed in. Not-so-smart money is creeping back in just now. Too soon. Some things just can't be rushed.
Please, though, feel free to not learn through the experience of others.
