Text: On 10/16/2008 at 2145 hours the Alaska State Troopers received a
report of a disturbance off East Crane Road. Investigation revealed
that Joel Olmstead, age 19, of Wasilla, had been consuming alcohol at a
residence on Crane Road. Olmstead was subsequently issued a summons to
appear in the Palmer Court for minor consuming alcohol and released on
scene.

Type: MVC-I
Text: On 10/16/2008, at 1936 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded for
a report of a motor vehicle collision on Vine Road and Hollywood Road in
Wasilla. The drivers of the vehicles were identified as Darliss Odonnell
(43 yoa of Palmer) and Whitney Bishop (22 yoa of Wasilla). Investigation
revealed that Odonnell, in her 1992 Ford pickup, had ran a stop sign
colliding with the passenger side of Bishop's 2002 Chevy pickup. Both
individuals sustained minor injuries and both reported wearing their
seatbelts. Damage was estimated at $15,000. Odonnell was subsequently
cited for basic speed.

Type: Warrant Arrest

Text: On 10-16-08 at approximately 2345 hours, Troopers stopped a Ford
Aerostar near mile 69 of the Parks Highway for a moving violation. The
driver was identified as Gary Haag, age 54 of Willow. Investigation
revealed that Haag had a $500 warrant for his arrest for contempt of
court. Haag was arrested and remanded into MSPT.

Case number: 08-86935 & 08-86937
Type: Warrant Arrest, Misconduct Involving Controlled Substance in the
Fourth Degree, False Information, and Eluding
Text: On 10/17/2008, approx. 0240 hours, Alaska State Troopers with the
South Central DUI Enforcement Team based out of Palmer stopped a red
1988 Ford Tempo in Palmer for a moving violation. One of the
passengers, 21 yoa Philip W. Simeon Jr. of Aniak, provided a false name
at the traffic stop. Simeon then fled on foot but was apprehended a
short time later while in possession of an amount of an illegal Schedule
IIA narcotic. Simeon also had two outstanding arrest warrants; one in
the amount of $10,000.00 for Failure To Appear (FTA) and Failure To
Remand, and one in the amount of $250.00 for FTA Sentencing on the
original charge of Theft and Violation of Conditions of Release. Simeon
was arrested and remanded to MSPT where he was held on a total bail of
$15,250.00 plus a court appointed third party requirement.

Type: Death Investigation
Text: On 10/17/08 at approximately 0505 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to the report of CPR in progress on a 53 year old male in a
residence in Wasilla. Investigation determined James Nelson, age 54 of
Wasilla, died in his residence at approximately 0459 hours as a result
of a long term illness. The next of kin was present and the State
Medical Examiner was notified. No foul play is suspected.

Type: MVC-Moose
Text: On 10/17/2008 at approximately 0705 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a report of a vehicle collision with a moose near the
intersection of the Parks Hwy and Johnson Rd. Investigation determined
Donald Graber age 55 of Willow, traveled southbound on the Parks Hwy
approaching the intersection of Johnson Rd in his 1992 Ford Explorer. A
moose entered the roadway from the eastside of the roadway and Graber
was unable to avoid colliding with it. Graber reported wearing his seat
belt at the time and denied any injuries. No citations were issued.

Type: MVC-I

Text: On 10-17-08 at approximately 0855 hours, AST responded to a three
vehicle MVC on Palmer Wasilla Highway (PWH) near Snider Road. Tanya
Stowell, age 20 of Wasilla, was stopped E/B on PWH waiting to turn left
in the coffee shop driveway, in a green 1999 Mercury 4-door sedan.
Daniel Meyer, age 45 of Wasilla was traveling E/B on PWH in a blue 2004
Ford truck, when he collided into the rear of Stowell's vehicle. Once
Meyer's was stopped, Keith Hjelmstad, age 57 of Chugiak, was traveling
E/B on PWH in a white 2001 Kenworth and collided into the rear of
Meyer's vehicle. Meyer's reported injuries and was transported by EMS to
MSRMC. No other injuries were reported. All occupants were wearing
seatbelts. Stowell's damage is estimated at $3000.00, Meyer's damage is
estimated at $1500.00, and Hjelmstad's damage is estimated at $500.00.
Meyer's and Hjelmstad were cited for Basic Speed.

Type: Concealment of Merchandise
Text: On 10-17-2008 at approximately 1324 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to report of an shoplifter at Steve's Foodboy in Big Lake.
Investigation revealed that Cynthia Sessions age 50 of Wasilla,
concealed merchandise without paying for it. The item was valued at
$6.99. Sessions was issued a summons to appear in court and trespassed
from Steve's Foodboy for two years. Sessions was released at the scene.

Type: MVC-Damage
Text: On 10/17/08 at approximately 1338 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to the intersection of Legacy Lane and Palmer Wasilla Highway
for a report of a motor vehicle collision. Raymond Roberts, age 60 of
Palmer, was east bound on the Palmer Wasilla Highway near Legacy Lane
slowing for traffic in his black 2008 GMC Denali. Thomas Murray, age 27
of Wasilla, was following Roberts vehicle in a white 2000 GMC 1500, when
Murray collided with the back of Roberts vehicle as he was slowing for
traffic. All parties reported wearing seatbelts and reported no
injuries. Murray and Roberts' trucks each suffered approximately
$1500.00 in damage.

Location: Noorvik

Case number: 08-86491

Type: Assault IV-DV, Assault IV on Police Officer, Violate Conditions of
Probation

Text: On 10/14/08, at approximately 2225 hours, the Noorvik VPSO
notified Kotzebue AST of a domestic violence assault in Noorvik that
occurred at 2130 hours. Derrick Curtis, 27 years of age was contacted
by the VPSO and another VPO. Investigation revealed Curtis had
assaulted another family member. Curtis was intoxicated and during the
investigation assaulted the VPO. Curtis left the scene prior to an
arrest and Troopers were unable to travel to Noorvik due to flight
availability. On 10/15/08, Troopers flew to Noorvik and arrested Curtis
without incident. Curtis was transported to the Kotzebue Regional Jail
and remanded with no bail pending arraignment. A court records check
revealed Curtis was on misdemeanor probation until 2/26/2011 with
conditions not to violate any laws.

Location: Village of Akhiok, Kodiak

Case Number: 08-86920

Type: Assault 2nd Degree

Text: On 10-16-08 at approximately 1610 hours a resident of the Village
of Akhiok called AST Kodiak to report her 64 year old husband, Rodrigo
Amodo, was assaulted by another resident of the village. The Village of
Akhiok is accessible only by boat or aircraft. Troopers flew to the
village and investigated the incident. The investigation revealed that
49 year old Fred Peterson assaulted Amodo by striking him in the head
with a rock and threatening to kill him. Amodo sustained a non
life-threatening injury to his head and was treated at the village.
Peterson was arrested and transported to the Kodiak City Jail where he
was remanded and charged with one count of 2nd Degree Assault.

Type: Motor Vehicle Collision/ Property Damage
Text: On 10-15-08 at approximately 1950 hours Kevin Mitchell, 35, of
Kodiak, called AST to report a collision with a pedestrian on Spruce
Cape Road near Jackson Lane. An investigation revealed that Mitchell was
driving his 2004 Chevy truck, pulling a boat, on Spruce Cape Road,
northbound. In the area near Jackson Lane an unidentified male attempted
to walk his bicycle across Spruce Cape Road. The man walked his bicycle
across the opposite lane of travel and into the left side of Mitchell's
boat trailer. According to Mitchell the man wasn't struck or injured,
but he did appear highly intoxicated. As a result of the collision the
bicycle's front wheel was damaged. When Mitchell told the man he had
called AST the man then fled the area taking his bicycle with him. AST
located the bicycle at a nearby trailer, and Mitchell was able to
positively identify it. The occupant(s) inside the trailer refused to
answer the door or speak with AST. This case is still under
investigation.

Case Number: 08-86934

Type: Wild Life, Bear, Defense of Life or Property

Text: On 10-16-08 at approximately 2200 hours a 39 year old resident of
Kodiak called AST Kodiak to report shooting and killing a bear that was
destroying his shed and freezers. AST responded to the Monashka Bay
residence and found the bear dead. Investigation determined that
killing the bear was justifiable. The bear was estimated to be 3 or 4
years old. The hide, skull and claws were forfeited to the state.

Text: On October 1, 2008, the Mountain Village Police Department
investigated a report from the Edna Apatiki that a 16 yoa student had
damaged the door to the shop class. The loss is estimated at $450.00.

Bethel.

Type: Driving Under the Influence/Reckless Endangerment/MVC-I
Text: On 10-17-08 at approximately 0009 hours, Alaska State Troopers receiv
ed a report of a two vehicle motor vehicle crash at University Avenue and S
andvick Street in Fairbanks. AST investigation revealed that a red Ford F1
50 driven by Frederick K. DISTAD, 49, of Fairbanks collided into the rear e
nd of a red Ford Explorer driven by Kerry A. NELSON, 29, of Fairbanks. DIS
TAD was intoxicated at the time of the crash. NELSON received minor injuri
es at the scene and was transported by UAF EMS to Fairbanks Memorial Hospit
al. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $5,000.00. DISTAD was arrest
ed and remanded at Fairbanks Correctional Center for Driving Under the Infl
uence and Reckless Endangerment. DISTAD was also cited for Following Too C

Type: Motor Vehicle Collision - Damage
Text: On 10/10/08 at 1358 hours, Troopers responded to a motor vehicle
collision at milepost 151 of the Parks Highway. Investigation revealed
a 2007 Kenworth Semi being operated by Jimmie Hugh Fuller Jr, age 55 of
Deaver, Wyoming, was attempting to pass a 2006 Subaru Legacy operated by
Christopher P Valorose, age 28 of Anchorage, on the extreme icy roadway.
Valorose lost control of his vehicle, spun around in front of the semi
and was struck head on by the semi. The semi received approximately
$6,000.00 damage. The Subaru received approximately$10,000.00 damage.
Fuller was cited for Basic Speed. Investigation complete.

Text: On 10/16/08, at approximately 1332 hours, AST contacted Isaac
McBride, age 22 of Fairbanks, during a traffic stop for driving 60 mph
in a 50 mph zone. A records check revealed McBride's driver's license
was suspended for excessive points on 6/19/07. McBride was arrested and
transported to FCC for remand where bail was set at $500.00.

Text: On 10/16/08 at approximately 1421 hours, AST received a REDDI
(Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately) report after a vehicle was
observed crossing the center/fog lines and struck a guard rail. A Cooper
Landing based State Trooper responded to the area and contacted the
vehicle at 58 mile of the Sterling Hwy at the Skilak Lake Loop entrance.
The driver Teira Turner, 26 yoa of Anchorage, was subsequently arrested
for DUI. Turner was transported to the Seward Jail and remanded without
incident. Bail was set at $500.00.
