Saturday was a great day for tasting Whisky!
First the event was sold out at Simon and Seafort's.
Second, we unfortunatley turned away 22 people.
Don't feel bad if you missed out. Hopefully more will be coming down the pike for this type of tasting.
Here's what was tasted. Single Malt Scotches first;
Dalmore 12yr. Cigar Malt-Sweet Chocolate, burnt caramel, full-bodied with buttery toffee, roasted nuts and a light white peppery undertone.
Arberlour 10 yr.-Creamy, nutty, hints of sherry and peppermint.
Scapa 14yr.-Spicy with a floral sweetness with a bit of raisin. Smooth oak flavor with hints of peat and smoke. Light finish.
Bourbons;
Blanton's Bourbon- Full and soft marked by a mix of burnt sugar, caramel, orange and cloves.
Woodford Reserve Bourbon-Rich, rounded and smooth with complex hints of tobacco, mint, leather and fruit. Look for the toffee and a little bit of spice.
Saturday was my 45th Birthday and was one of the best I've had.
After the tasting several friends, collegues, military buds and myself stepped out for the an evening that ended with superb Bourbon's and Cigars that kept me out until 4:00am.
I haven't done that in many years!
Salut!
