Wednesday's trooper dispatches

An 8-year-old boy from Tanana was flown to Fairbanks Tuesday night after he accidentally shot himself with a .22-caliber rifle, according to State Troopers. See the dispatch below.

Type: Theft in the 2nd Degree

Text: On 9/24/08 at 0919 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a
report from a resident near the area of Forest Park about theft of
various electronic devices valued at approximately $1500.00 that were
taken from the residence. The theft occurred between 9/8/08 and
9/21/08. Alaska State Troopers have developed a suspect in the case and
the investigation continues.

Location: Big Lake
Case number: 08-79959
Type: MVC-I
Text: On 9-23-008 at 1855 hours, the Alaska State Troopers responded to
a 2 vehicle collision on the Susitna Parkway and Marshall Drive in Big
Lake. Investigation revealed that Merle Coffman (58 YOA of Big Lake)
was driving his 1982 Mercedes sedan westbound on the Susitna Parkway.
Coffman was turning his vehicle left onto his driveway when his vehicle
was struck on the driver's side by a 2005 Dodge pickup driven by Charles
Potter (24 YOA of Big Lake) after Potter was trying to go around
Coffman's vehicle on the left side. The Dodge pickup suffered
approximately $3,000.00 in damage, and the Mercedes was totaled.
Coffman was transported to Mat Su Regional Hospital for injuries along
with a passenger in the pickup identified as Jackson Lambert (25 YOA of
Wasilla). The passenger in the Mercedes identified as Amber McGraw (20
YOA of Big Lake) was taken by Life Flight to the Alaska Native Medical
Center in Anchorage for treatment of her injuries. Seatbelts were worn
by involved parties. Investigation is continuing.

Type: MVC-D

Text: On 09/23/2008, at approx. 1642 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a report of a Motor Vehicle Collision at Palmer-Wasilla
Highway and Seward Meridian. Investigation revealed that 65 yoa, Karla
Faye, of Wasilla was driving her Blue 2005 Kia Sorento when she rear
ended a red 2000 Chevy Tracker driven by 43 yoa, Jay A. Mcinerney, of
Palmer. Karla was cited for driver to exercise due care. Both vehicles
sustained approximately $2,500 worth of damages. Jay and Karla were
wearing their seat belts at the time of the collision.

Text: On 9-23-08 at approximately 2000 hours, Alaska State Troopers
located David Graves, age 47, of Trapper Creek at his residence on
Petersville Road. Graves was wanted on a $1,500 cash warrant for
failure to complete community work service. Graves was arrested and
remanded into MSPT.

Type: Driving While License Suspended

Text: On 09/23/2008, at approximately 2126 hours, Alaska State Troopers
contacted 37 yoa Michael R. Reagan of Houston for a traffic violation at
Parks Highway and King Arthur Rd. near Houston. Investigation revealed
that Reagan was driving with his license suspended. Reagan was issued a
summons for Driving While License Suspended and released at the scene.

Type: Death Investigation

Text: On 09/23/08, at approximately 1846 hours, AST responded to 3100 N.
Cambay Ct. for a report of a home death. The victim was identified as
James E. Eller, age 87, of Wasilla. Investigation revealed Eller died
from natural causes. The SME was contacted and released the body to
Valley Mortuary. No foul play is suspected in the death. Next of kin
were notified.

Type: Assault III (DV), Assault IV (DV), and Interfering With a Report
of DV

Text: On 09/23/08, at approximately 2206 hours, AST responded to a
residence on Outer Springer Loop, Palmer for a reported disturbance.
Investigation revealed that Scott D. Boie, age 22, of Palmer, had
assaulted a family member. Boie was arrested for Assault III (DV),
Assault IV (DV), and Interfering with a Report of DV. Boie was
transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and remanded into their
custody with no bail.

Type: DUI, MOCA, MCA
Text: On 9/24/08 at approximately 0359 hours at mile 9 of the Palmer
Wasilla Highway Troopers contacted 18 yoa Byron Romer III of Wasilla as
he was attempting to drive a white 2000 Ford pickup truck out of the
ditch. Investigation revealed that Romer was driving under the
influence of alcohol. Romer was arrested for DUI, MOCA and MCA and
remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial where bail was set at $500.00.

Text: On 9/24/08, Herbert Aluska Jr., age 30 of Stebbins, was arrested
by VPO's for assaulting his wife. The victim did not require medical
attention, alcohol was not involved. Aluska was transported to Nome for
arraignment.

Location: Nunapitchuk

Case number: 08-80035

Type: MVC - Boat injury

Text: On 09-19-08 VPSO Jacob Tobeluk of Nunapitchuk received information
of a boat collision that occurred near the Village of Nunapitchuk.
Investigation revealed that two boats, one Jon Boat and one Bering Sea
boat collided at a corner of the Kuiggluaq River about a half mile west
of Nunapitchuk. Three people on board the Jon vessel sustained injuries
and the one person on board the Bering Sea vessel also was slightly
injured. One person from the Jon Boat was tossed from the vessel and
into the river and was immediately recovered. All persons were
transported to Nunapitchuk where they medical attention. Investigation
continues. No alcohol was involved.

Type: Burglary, Theft, Criminal Mischief

Text: On 9-22-08, at about 1730 hours, VPO Nathan Evan called to report
that the Napakiak Police Department had been broken into some time
between 9-21-08 2200 to 9-22-08. Unknown person(s) had taken a Remington
shotgun from the building and also smashed a computer monitor. Anyone
with information concerning this matter is asked to call the Alaska
State Troopers in Bethel at 1-800-478-9112. Investigation continues.

Type: Medical Assist/Title 47

Text:On 9/24/08 Aniak AST was contacted by Behavioral health at YKHC,
reference a Title 47 involving a juvenile female in Crooked Creek.
Aniak AST traveled to Crooked, and upon contact with the juvenile, it
was determined that she was in need of immediate medical attention due
to ingesting an unknown number and type of pills. She was transported
to Aniak and taken to the clinic for care.

Behavioral Health in Bethel was advised.

Type: Prohibition of Alcohol Importation after an Election, License
Required for Importation of Alcoholic Beverages and Alcoholic Beverages
Transported by Common Carrier

Text: On Tuesday, September 23, 2008, at 1915 hours the Alaska State
Troopers contacted Eva Aguchak, 28 yoa of Mountain Village, at the
airport in St. Mary's after receiving an anonymous tip that she was
bringing alcoholic beverages to Mountain Village on a Frontier Alaska
flight from Anchorage. Troopers seized seven bottle of Rare and Rich
Canadian Whiskey from Aguchak's luggage. Charges have been forwarded to
the District Attorney's Office in Bethel.

Type: accidental gunshot

On 9-23-08 at about 1915 hours Troopers received a report of an 8yoa
male juvenile being treated for a gunshot wound at the Fairbanks
Hospital. Investigation found that the juvenile from Tanana was
medivaced for a gunshot wound from a 22 caliber rifle that happened in
Tanana.

The injuries were expected to be non life threatening and he is
currently being treated at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital. Investigation
found the shooting was accidental and self-inflicted by the juvenile.
AST investigation continues.

Type: Felony Warrant Arrest
Text: On 09-23-08 at 2000 hours, Gregory Peters, 26 of Fairbanks, was
arrested for an outstanding felony assault warrant after he was
contacted by Alaska State Troopers tasked with serving the warrant.
Peters was subsequently transported and remanded at Fairbanks
Correctional Center.

was arrested and transported to the Fairbanks Correctional Center.

Type: DUI
Text: On 9-24-08, Troopers stopped a black 2002 four door Kia, on Steese
Hwy near Sheep Creek Rd for failing to yield to oncoming traffic on a
left hand turn. Shawna Denise Burk, age 24 of Nenana, was identified as
the driver. Investigation revealed Burk was driving the vehicle while
impaired by alcohol. Burk was subsequently arrested for DUI. Burk was
transported and remanded at FCC.

Text: On 9/21/08, Grigorios Gannulis 45 YOA, of Eagle River was cited by
the Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Girdwood Post for sport fishing shrimp
gear during a closed season. Gannulis was also cited for fishing shrimp
gear that did not meet the escape mechanism requirements. Bail is set
at $220.00 at Anchorage District Court.

Type: Take Cow Moose, Wanton Waste

Text: On 9/23/08 at approximately 1550 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers
investigated a dead cow moose approximately 4.5 miles below Aniak on the
Kuskokwim River, near "Crow Village". The cow moose accompanied by a
calf was shot on or about 9/21/08. The person taking the moose made no
attempt to salvage any meat. Evidence has been collected from the
scene. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Alaska Wildlife

On 9/24/2008 at approximately 0950, Shaka Levshakoff, 26 of Whittier,
was contacted in a Fairview-area residence by members of AST-Alaska
Bureau Investion and APD detectives from both the Special Victims Unit
and the Crimes Against Children Unit. Leveshakoff was taken into custody
without incident in connection with a 2007 homicide investigation.

On 09/18/08, AST's investigation resulted in troopers obtaining an
arrest warrant for Levshakoff for Murder in the Second Degree,
Manslaughter and Criminally Negligent Homicide, in connection with the
homicide of two-year-old Anne Marie Nimmo in Whittier, AK.
