As a rescuer, you hear all the stories of why people are "getting rid of" (I hate that term. You get rid of your garbage, you place or rehome an animal). Every phone call pretty much starts out with I have to get rid of my cat/dog... and somewhere in the conversation you hear "he's a wonderful cat", "he's the best dog in the whole world", "you couldn't ask for a better cat/dog", etc. Okay, if they are that great, why are you 'getting rid' of him/her?

Awesome. I love this. I wish the city/state/government could tax people for giving up their animals- like garnish their wages to help pay for trying to re-home their animal when they take it to the shelter or post it on Craigslist because they're just 'too busy' or 'moving' or 'had a baby and now don't have time' for their pet. Since it's illegal for me to go to their houses and smack them upside the head with a two-by-four, maybe I'll just start e-mailing them this letter in response to their Craigslist ad.
I understand that the amount of stupidity and irresponsibility in this world is enormous- I just wish people wouldn't take it out on animals.
