Yes you did

A. If people like Palin won't buckle up, there just won't be any more roads- anywhere. I mean it!!

B. You and Lilysdaddy need to drink a beer (or 2) together tonight and coordinate. He said it wasn't ok to build a BRIDGE in SE ('cause that's what Palin says), but it ok to build a $25 million road to the bridge span location, using bridge project money ('cause that's what Palin says). Palin wants us to think the bridge project isn't moving forward, but that just means the part that crosses the water- all the rest is ok and makes good sense.

That's because a road is a road and a bridge is a bridge, and never the twain shall meet (especially in this case!).

Juneau should logically be part of Canada and they can darn well build the road, bridge, neither or both with the money they'll get from buying Alaska's natural gas cheap and selling their pseudo-petroleum high to China!

Someone should do an analysis of ownership of "TC Alaska", its parent company vs. 3 oil majors.

How much is owned by US investors vs. rest of planet? I'm sure the stats are out there, if not on here.

But here, I'll help you out, coccinellii (though I suspect nothing will slake your obsession), 'cause I ran imagery interpretation shops for several years in the Air Force; we handled that overhead stuff, but I'll see if I can bring this down to earth for you:

- look closely at the photo link you supplied (good job!); click; enlarge;
- can you ID the car?
- no? me neither, exactly, but I'll guess it's a Ford Thunderbird, perhaps a '67 model year, whataya think?
- across-the-shoulder seatbelts in that convertible? in 1967? no?
- lap seatbelts? possibly?
- on? off? both the governor and Piper?
- can't determine from the photo?
- can't see into the car to make the call?

Me neither; sorry. But it was easier, back-in-the-day, counting bad guys' fighters and missle launchers.

Feel better? No?

Timing of car incident and firing?

I instinctively thought the timing of the car incident and the firing was suspicious.

Doubtful there will be any type of investigative reporting, however.

Wonder why all the Sarah supporters work so hard to bully all who don't believe every word of this administration?

Hint: Anchorage Police Department officers would respond to the accident.

What is suspicious is your speculations that are unfounded. Are you guys sure the "troopers" responded to the accident or did you misspeak and mean "apd." Seems a little far-fetched that behappy is bringing up Trig being in the car in a sling when reports said she was alone. Have you personally seen the Gov carry Trig in a sling or is that assumption as well?

Also I think it is the Sarah-haters that do the bullying based on all my reading on this blog. They are the ones that continually spread lies, speculation, and mis-truths with no evidence to back up their spewing. Thanks to Lilysdaddy for continually asking for proof!

Not that it is directly related to the speculation about the accident, in answer to your question about the governor carrying her infant in a sling, she recently carried him- in a sling-in a moving vehicle in our July 4th parade.

There was even a picture in the ADN.

Though I am pleased to note your interest in strict enforcement of those rules.

Parade participants take note: Any float featuring children must safely have them confined to appropriate car seats, fastened in place as the law ordains. Not just children; adults riding on floats MUST be seated and with seatbelts and shoulder harnesses firmly in place.

Pre-parade inspection mandatory.

That oughta simplify float construction!

Oh....and any animals on floats need to be properly confined, too.

No exceptions.

It's a simple question with a yes or no answer

Was Palin's baby with her? Yes or no? The news story said she was alone. End of story.

One assumes that, when driving with her infant, she uses a car seat as mandated by law? yes or no?

If not, any law enforcement person should treat her no differently than any other citizen under the same circumstances. Right?

she was involved in an accident; driving her own vehicle; her baby was in a sling across her chest; Palin was not wearing a seat belt; 7 people were killed in the accident; 4 vehicles were totally consumed in flames; 6 nearby buildings were leveled in the follow-on explosion; Troopers overrode the authority of Anchorage Police Department officers on the scene of a traffic accident in Anchorage and gave Palin a ticket for following too closely; Commissioner of DPS was fired one day later.

The truth is out there!

Feel better now?

(Oh, and 3 dogs that happened on the scene following the accident, died later that day from lapping up spilled gasoline.)

(Oh yeah, Palin also grabbed the camera of an ADN staff photographer and smashed it to the ground, to destroy evidence.)

(Oh, almost forgot: Palin, now with a new DPS Commissioner, has Troopers out looking for all witnesses to the accident she caused; 93 families have requested protection under the witness relocation program.)

One can go here and read just an amazing amount of stuff about the Gravina Island access project. Don't even need friends in Ketchikan to provide the 411. One can read that:

The purpose of the Gravina Access Project is to improve surface transportation between Revillagigedo Island, home of Ketchikan and Saxman, and Gravina Island, the location of the Ketchikan International Airport and adjoining lands that offer recreational and development potential.

On Sept. 21, 2007, Governor Palin announced that the State could not fund the selected bridge alternative identified in the Gravina Access Project Record of Decision (Gravina Access Project Redirected 07-192) and directed the DOT&PF to look for the most fiscally responsible alternative for access. Not all of the reasonable alternatives in the Final EIS included the Gravina Island Highway, which DOT&PF began constructing in 2006, so DOT&PF is now preparing a Supplemental EIS to consider all reasonable alternatives with the Gravina Island Highway.

And honestly, at this point, MEGO took over and I stopped reading. But enough got past my eyeballs and into my processing center for me to determine that, well, no work is being done on the bridge, as you say, but only on surface roads in the area. Vetoed the bridge, not the project. "Surface" and "access" are two key words to watch for in the description.

Was your posting an honest ('though off-topic) effort to illustrate what you believe to be an oversight with regard to the actions of DOT and the state? Or was it simply another unfounded swipe at the governor?

I don't believe I want a governor micro-managing projects within individual departments. You?

This is what Sarah Palin said during the primary election campaign:

"'People across the nation struggle with the idea of building a bridge because they’ve been under these misperceptions about the bridge and the purpose,' said Palin, who described the link as the Ketchikan area’s potential for expansion and growth.

Palin said Alaska’s congressional delegation worked hard to obtain funding for the bridge as part of a package deal and that she 'would not stand in the way of the progress toward that bridge.'”

This is what Sarah said during the general election campaign:

'Part of my agenda is making sure that Southeast is heard. That your projects are important. That we go to bat for Southeast when we’re up against federal influences that aren’t in the best interest of Southeast.'

She cited the widespread negative attention focused on the Gravina Island crossing project. 'We need to come to the defense of Southeast Alaska when proposals are on the table like the bridge and not allow the spinmeisters to turn this project or any other into something that’s so negative,' Palin said.

Who is helping to keep the negative spin going now- especially at national conventions?

And your response- quoting DOT propaganda- is just plain silly.

So building a 3 mile road for access to the "vetoed" bridge is designed to go serves what public purpose, especially when the funds being used are bridge project funds? And the governor only intended to stop construction of the spans, but not all the road work leading up to the spans.

DOT could have halted construction of the road because as DOT even admits, it is not part of "all of the reasonable alternatives in the Final EIS."
