Here’s a question I was asked recently:
“Are you letting your girls go camping after the prom?”
Think about it. Who goes camping in a prom dress?
I have laughed, cried, prayed, yelled, encouraged, cursed, cheered for, and truly enjoyed raising 5 of my own teenagers and coaching a few hundred more over the years. I have learned much that may help you sleep better as you ride the ups and downs with the teens in your life.
I won’t lecture you on parenting, because I hate when people do that to me, especially when I'm having a not so great day, mom wise. So if you want to know what I think, you’ll need to ask me. I promise to advise you like a friend would, and will treat each question as if it were about my own child.
I'll also pass on weekly parenting tips, like this one from my neighbor Betty:
If you want to talk with your teenager, don’t ask “how was school today?” Instead, ask them to help you with the dishes. “You’d be amazed” Betty says “how much they’ll say when you’re working together.”
