dogs

I'm sorry that Doug let his dogs get in such a condition. While I won't make excuses for him, not knowing anything but what the newspaper chose to report, I do know that Doug is a good man. Hopefully in the future, if business takes a downturn, he will ask for help for the ones who are dependent on him for their sustenance.

Blessings

inhumane treatment of dogs

I have read about previous such cases of starvation of dogs, especially sled dogs, in the past few years. I can never understand how someone can say they love their animals when they are starving and in need of attention and sometimes, even shelter. Anyone can come on bad times...but if one is a responsible animal owner and can readily see that they can no longer feed and care for the creatures who depend on them...isn't it necessary to make a difficult decision and turn them over to pet rescue or animal control before the poor dogs/horses/cats are so far gone that they are actually on death's doorstep? Which is better..to watch them starve to death, or turn them over so that at least some of the pets have a chance at a new life?

Sad and Mad

It's hard to fathom this kind of criminal neglect and abuse of a living being that is completely dependent on someone for their care. Most dogs, if treated well, are nothing but loving and happy creatures. This man's behavior is revolting to say the least, but it also angers me to the extent that I have a strong urge to hate him. I'm going to reject that hatred because I myself do not want to be spiritually polluted by his deeds and I hope that for once, the courts of justice will do right by the creatures who cannot help themselves. I myself rescued a dog that was within days of certain starvation and looked exactly like the dogs in these photos. The vet agreed with me that death was imminent for my rescued husky had I not intervened. The husky I rescued has become one of the best pets I've ever had...most people are amazed at what a loving animal she is. Please give these poor creatures a chance for a good life. And let justice be thoroughly meted out that other would-be abusers will take notice.
