There will be a public hearing on Tuesday, April 29th, at 5pm at the Assembly Chambers in the Loussac Library regarding the recently proposed recycling plan for the Muni. Be sure to contact your Assembly person about the plan and to come to the public hearing to show support. Remember that some of you will have a new Assembly person after tonight's meeting and that person will need to be educated about recycling and the benefits to our community.
Here are just a few things that Anchorage will get:
Expanded Drop-off Sites --Three new and expanded drop-off sites for residents and businesses; at the landfill in Eagle River, in Muldoon, and in the Huffman area. Sites will accept newspaper, cardboard, mixed paper, aluminum, steel, glass, PET plastic bottles, HDPE plastic jugs, and stretchy plastic films.
Public Space Recycling -- Downtown Anchorage & Eagle River, Convention, Performing Arts & Sports Centers.
Anchorage School District Recycling -- Customized collection plans for each school.
Public Education & Outreach -- Where and how to reduce, reuse and recycle.
Composting -- Additional collection points and seasonal drop-off programs.
