Our classic Dr. Zhivago love story
My love and I met after two years of moving here to Alaska. On a cool morning in March, we both discover comfort and shelter in each other's arms. Two hearts needing mending, our lives would never be the same. Spring's surprises give birth to summer's splendors, longing for love's embrace.
To belohod love's beautiful smiling face. Longing, waiting is all we could do.
Suddenly on a cool autumn morning my love went away, with him went my heart.
Memories of love, on beautiful Alaskan summer days. Somewhere my love, they'll be songs to sing, Godspeed my love, till you're mine again.
To Anthony.
Love, Patricia

When Mr. Wrong is really Right!
In 1978, Purdue University's Date Match was at the cutting edge of computer dating. I received a call from some guy who claimed I was on his list of matches. I hadn't received my list of potential Mr. Rights but he seemed nice enough, so we made a date. When I got mine the next day I found that although we matched almost 100% in categories like
Appearances and Interests, we had a rather disconcerting match of 0% in Morals and Attitudes! Apparently he'd lied, hoping for a loose woman but got me instead! Thirty years later, we're still together.

A Love Story, According to the Children
In 1986, my two children and I were having lunch with my old college friends. One woman, recently divorced, was giving marital advice to others who surrounded the table.
Sixteen year-old Wendy was visibly annoyed and suddenly chirped, "Obviously you don't know my parents very well. I've never seen two people more in love."
Her brother Adam, soon to be twelve, chimed in, "Yeah, it's gross."
After a brief moment of stunned silence, laughter erupted!

In January, 1998, after writing a letter asking God to help find someone to love me, I met my husband Anatoliy, visiting from Russia, at a singles dance on February 14, 1998. He could not speak a word of English, nor I Russian. We fell in love at first sight and continued to see each other, speaking to one another using his beautiful 7 year old granddaughter as a translator and an English/Russian dictionary. With our limited ability to speak to one another we were married on March 19, 98, in my home with both of our family members and my dearest friends attending. The movie ìCity of Anglesî had just been released and we both agreed that it was the story of our romance, although instead of Heaven and Earth, our story was Russia and Alaska. We are still happily married and sharing many laughs and good times. There is a lot more to the story that cannot be covered in 100 words. It is a lifetime of words, love, respect and sharing of cultures.

"This isn't working for me." She was standing in the kitchen when she said this.
I was in the living room watching Sportscenter.
"What's not working for you?" I asked.
"This isnít working for me," she repeated.
I got up and went into the kitchen to see what
appliance wasn't working. She knew I wouldn't be able to fix any of them, but maybe she just needed confirmation that it wasn't working.
"Is it the fridge?"
"No, it's us."
My jaw dropped. "Whatís wrong?" She wouldn't tell me. Easter dinner with her parents was the last time we were together.

Contest: What is your love story?
Hello,
I wrote a Haiku for the contest but upon rereading the directions you're not looking for a Haiku but a romance that is (was?) like Haiku, short but intense. So whoever wins the Haiku division will have won with a story about a different "Sweetie" than the one they take to dinner?
That sounds a bit reckless (or fun?). What the heck, I'll submit my Haiku anyway. Have a wonderful day.

I think that I have good love story for you.
Do you remember what you got for your 21st birthday? Well I do.
I was in the Navy stationed in Jacksonville , Fla. I had just signed up for another four years in the Navy. At that time I had a model " A " roadster and some cash.
Some one asked did I want to go on a date? I have date tonite and she has a sister. Well to make the story short, I ended up with his date, before we left that nite. I told her that she was going to marry me.
That was on 19th of Feb. 1945, Our wedding was on the 1st of June 1945. I will be 84 on this Feb 19th & she ( Beatrice) is still by my side today. Did you know that it don't seem that long. We are still in love.
I don't think too many can top this one. 63 years is a lot.
We have been here in Glennallen sence I retired from the Navy in 1960

We met on the North Slope in June. Joe returned to Anchorage; we had long
phone conversations accompanied by the "Chariots of Fire" soundtrack. The
music was a metaphor for our relationship: building slowly to the euphoria
of new love followed by the quiet steadiness of long-lasting real love. Our
first date was in August at the elegant Regina's. Afterward we shared our
first kiss. In September we traveled together and in October Joe proposed.
We married February 14 at the Russian Jack oasis. Our wedding music:
"Chariots of Fire". This is our 24th anniversary; we still start and end
each day with a kiss.

P.S. to ADN: Condensing a "love" story to 100 words can only be done by
leaving out the "love". Ours is a very romantic story, but I'm afraid that
nothing I had room to say here even begins to convey that. I'm not sure why
you bothered. My first draft was about 500 words and adequately conveyed my
story. Even cutting it to 250 was sort of acceptable. Please consider
allowing more words in future exercises. I suspect that readers would
prefer a few good stories to more items with little meaningful content.

Heading home from scorching, hot Phoenix, Arizona; a young man dressed stylishly catches my eye. I figured that he wasn't from Alaska and his very vivid enactment of a fly-fisherman while standing in the jet way verified this fact! We had noticed one another at the baggage claim but didn't talk; the next day, I attended a rock concert and guess who was in the band..Him! He saw me from the stage in a crowd full of people and smiled right at me. Its been 6 months since that night and we are deeply in love.
