Take our exercise poll
Springtime can be a miserable time of year to walk a dog. The snow becomes abrasive, icy, rife with ankle-twisting holes. And if that's not bad enough, there's the runoff. Previously reliable trails become impassable to master if not dog and drench fleece booties to the point of uselessness. This week, share your secrets or your frustrations in trying to exercise during breakup.
PICTURE OF THE WEEK

The theme of the week was portraits, and while submissions on topic were off for the week, we had a clear winner in Spencer, Liz Solomon's golden retriever. Liz says this shot was taken in some fresh powder on the Kenai Peninsula. You've gotta love the orange booties, and you've gotta love Spencer.
Another shot that has been stopping me on every trip through the gallery is this one of Rebecca Sheffield's Brook "sleeping in the sunbeams." Even though it was submitted before the portrait contest began, it merits an honorable mention for being flat-out adorable and a terrific picture.
THIS WEEK'S PICTURE THEME
Expressions. Send us a picture of your dog looking happy, sad, angry, confused. Anything goes, but be sure to identify the expression in the caption. As usual, if you don't have a good picture on the theme, just submit any of your favorites. Note: For theme purposes, the week begins and ends on Monday after the first update of the gallery.
