Recently I caught a television ad that really snagged my attention. It touted fabulous dishes such as Wild Salmon Florentine in a Delicate Sauce with Garden Greens. The most intriguing bit to me was the reference to “wild” salmon. And the fact that the ad was aimed at cat owners.
Apparently, even pet food makers have embraced the Alaska fishing industry’s marketing mantra that wild salmon is tastier and healthier than farmed fish.
Pet food giant Purina is offering three wild salmon selections. Check out the picture by Anchorage Daily News photographer Bill Roth. I bought these cans for 77 cents apiece over at Fred Meyer. At least some of the salmon going into these cans comes from Alaska, a Purina spokeswoman confirmed to The Highliner.
Office mates with cats tell me their felines would most favor Wild Salmon and Whipped Egg Souffle with Garden Greens. BONE appetit!
