Just a very short note to say the new Web design is excellent. Easy to read and navigate, much better organized.
It's also fantastic that you've added the blog forum to address readers directly. I think they're going to appreciate hearing from you. I know I'll be reading, and possibly offering the occasional comment. Keep up the great work.
I've always felt that the front page layout of the ADN was one of the best in the industry, and I always looked forward to seeing it when I checked the
site. I'm sorry to see the PDF of the front page is no longer included on your website. Otherwise, I like the improvements.
BTW, I missed you by a couple of years. I was a sportswriter with the Times in 1971-72. I left the state in 1972 to finish school and ended up in a different career in D.C.
The PDF is still there. It's at the very bottom of the home page, and you can still click on it to get a full screen version. I insisted on having the PDF because I think readers need to be able to get the information that comes from seeing how stories and photos are arranged on the front page.
We will soon offer a PDF version of the entire newspaper, for those who want to be able to see every single page, from A1 to the last classified ad. There will be more information about that on adn.com as we get closer to offering the service.
Those days as a young sportswriter at the Anchorage Times seem like a lifetime ago . . . The town has changed in a lot of ways, although Chuck White is still doing a heck of a job coaching high school basketball (and for West, no less).
