More than 300 players who have played in the ECHL, the AA minor hockey league in which the Alaska Aces play, have ascended to the NHL, the best league in the world.
Will former Aces winger Charles Linglet be next? Honestly? I haven’t a clue. All I know is Linger the Winger scored two goals and ripped off a game-high six shots on goal Saturday night to propel the Peoria Rivermen of the American Hockey League to a 3-1 win at Iowa. That gives Linger a team-high 11 goals in 18 games this season, and ties the 24-year-old for 12th in the ‘A’ in goals.
And it’s not like the St. Louis Blues, Peoria’s parent club in The Show, is overstocked with snipers. With an average of just 2.28 goals per game, the Blues are 28th of 30 NHL teams.
So, puckheads, gather your good karma and sent it Linger’s way. It couldn’t hurt.
