Sarah ~~
I guess you NEVER thought to vet this guy Kopp, huh? Then you give him a $10,000 severance package, even when you find out he's a sexual predator!!! Hush money "talks", eh, Sarah? And Monegan gets not one penny for his service? Corruption rules in PALIN-VILLE!

My, what a devoted staff Gov. Palin has, to take it on their own to interfere with personnel issues with the State Patrol. Chief of Staff Mike Tibbles, Attorney General Talis Colberg, Director of Boards & Commissions Frank Bailey, and spouse Todd Palin are the names that have surfaced. At least the governor is astute enough to realize

So Todd asks about "the process" for when state troopers make death threats against the first family.
And Sarah asks about "the process" to have books removed from library shelves.
I see a "process" er...pattern developing.

Considering how the Obama-adoring media and it's flock are always hot-to- trot when it comes to not tolerating officer abuse, notice how they focus intently on Sarah Palin, instead of a potentially dangerous officer. ANY rational person would have feared for the safety of their family, and acted accordingly. If the media spent as much time questioning Obama about his communist mentors and his little terrorist buddy, Bill Ayers, and less time trying to destroy a decent woman like Sarah Palin, they might actually gain some credibility. The media used to at least "pretend" to be objective, but now, they've becomed so emboldened, they don't even bother anymore. To the media: How about reporting the news honestly, instead of trying to manipulate the public into voting a certain way? As for Palin, they'll attempt to destroy her, not only because she's a threat to their "messiah", but because she so finely represents what liberals despise most - their own country. Chris Matthews and the rest of the Obamaphiles will have to get a tingle up their leg elsewhere, because Obama WILL be defeated like the leftist lightweight he is. Then they'll have four full years to dust off their old, dog-eared copies of their "Handbook For Radicals", and ponder what went wrong. Smells like victory to me.

You seem to have forgotten that this trooper was officially suspended and "appropriately punished" by Alaska authorities. Have you ever heard of "double jeopardy" ? Oh, I forgot.....Republicans have their own set of rules for the U.S. Constitution!!!

"TrooperGate" seems to be a messy little confused issue compared to Bill Ayers, "weather underground". The firing of a lawbreaking, threat making,ex husband,ex trooper, really can't compare to the unapologetic, domestic terrorist, bomber of the capital with whom Obama launched his political career and sat on chicago boards with.
Who doesn't have a trouble maker or troubled soul in the family tree?
"you can't pick your family"
In my opinion choices show far more about the person and Obama choose Ayers,Wright and cast of as of yet unnamed still being shrouded by the Chicago Political Machine

It's a problem either way.....
Putting aside Monegan for a moment, the issues in Troopergate are enormous. Either she orchestrated the phone calls and she is guilty of abusing her office, OR, her staff took it upon themselves to do so, making her guilty of poor judgement in hiring, supervising, total failure to set or enforce ethical standards of behavior, and keeping personal family issues out of the office.
Either way, it's yet another example of how she is in no way qualified to be the Vice President, especially to a 73 y/o former POW (with it's dramatically ill effects on life expectancy) and 4x cancer patient.

He threatened to kill a member of the governors family when she was a mayor. He violated restraining orders., (for which the right to own a weapon is generally surrendered) He drove a state DPS vehicle impaired enough that a fellow officer made him pull over, and then, gave him a ride home, again avoiding the legal consequences that apply to you or I, or anybody else who broke drinking and driving rules.. He used an issued weapon on a minor child. A weapon that has killed unexpectedly in the past, due to unknown medical conditions of the person on the receiving end. This immaturity and disregard for laws that apply to us all, and for which you or I would pay dearly, has gone unchallenged, because of strong union and political protection. It seems that the administration had justifiable reasons to inquire, as to why this officer wasn`t fired.. and what mechanism is preventing justice from being applied to state troopers that would be applied unflinchingly to you or I. A union can be a good thing when unfairness and nepotism and favoritism pervades an industry or workplace. But it becomes a devisive special interest, fighting all criticisms, when it is found to harbor law violators.. as is evident in this case. This is a politically motivated response by the governors enemies to her overwhelming mandate to clean up the corruption in this state, and take a stand against an industry thet has led Alaska closer to becoming a vassal state instead of an owner state. Follow the money as high as it goes, and you will find those leading the hue and cry against this popularly elected governor. Money buys media time. Hitler held power because he repeated a lie so often that people beleived it. Certain media neocons have become nothing but mouthpieces for those interests alligned against this very good and devoted governor. It is part of the job of an administration to inquire, when the justice system appears to have obviously broken down, as to why and how,.. and what it takes to repair it. These forces can and do resist any efforts to delve into cronyism and favoritism when it comes to applying the law equally and fairly. The state troopers are not above the law. I want to know why he wasn`t fired too. I want to know why laws don`t apply to state troopers, that are vigorously enforced against the citizens,, the people they are supposed to be working FOR.

I personally feel that this has gotten way out of hand. It's true that she shouldn't have had to answer for why she fired Monegan. It was her right. He isn't in a union. That being said, I think she's handling all of this horribly. She should have never let her husband get involved in any official governor business. She should step up and take responsibility for the actions of her staff, whether they were acting on her behalf or not. And 24 inquiries is above and beyond. Who would go to that much trouble without the governor's prodding? I think she's guilty of all she's accused of but I don't think it should have gotten this far. Just quit voting Republican people! Let her finish her term and learn from your mistakes.

and it clearly states her personal interest in Wooten and clearly asks that her complaints be considered objectively. Everything she says comes with corroborating witnesses given. Just because you are governor does not mean you can't complain about someone you see as an abusive, nasty cop. That email at least is within bounds. Shall see about the rest.

It looks like Sarah Palin doesn't care about the citizen's of Alaska. Why did she cut Public Safety Department's Budget? However she authorized and gave $ 400,000.00 to Fish and Game BOARD to "educate people" and try convince them that it is neccesary to kill the wolves. The State is spending a lots of money on fuel because Fish and Game, with the support of Sarah Palin, are still killing the wolves by aircraft. What benefit Fish and Game Board and the State government Sarah Palin are getting with these atrocities? They blame the wolves for the decrease of moose and caribou when it's their own fault. People come from all over the world to hunt moose and caribou as a trophy and for fun. Does a person need to hunt if they drive a $40,000.00 pickup pulling $ 40,000.00 worth of ATVs? is this "subsistence". To kill animals, for fun and for the fur is cruel and inhumane. Tourists come to Alaska to see the wild animals and take photos of them.In 2007 the tourism brought Alaska over $ 2 billion dollars through restaurants, hotels, stores, etc. Tourism is among one of the main sources in the State of Alaska. However, the hunters only benefit themselves and a few people. Sarah Palin already violated the Alaskan's rights.Aerial Wolf Hunting continous despite two state wide votes against Predator Control. Sarah Palin always accuses some else. Wooten only killed one moose but Sarah Palin already authorized to kill the wolves and to kill black bears with no bag limit. The WOLVES ARE UNIQUE. SARAH PALIN BE HONEST AND SAY THE REASON WHY YOU AUTHORIZE TO ELIMINATE THEM, AND DO NOT USE THE EXCUSE SUCH AS "SUBSISTENCE". We need a politicians who work for the best of the State and to preserve the natural resources, and not to destroy them for their own conveniece and purposes and to please their wealthy friends or for popularity or votes. SARAH PALIN WHERE IS THE TRANSPARENCY?

Hello people! You never questioned about who gave her money to get where she is today. My ass did not vote for her because I thought something was wrong. Two of her biggest backers were Wayne Anthony Ross and Wally Hickel. Did you not see something wrong with that picture? This woman is an embarrassment to all women. I am ashamed to have her my governor. Frank Murkowski only bought a jet. What does Sarah do to mess things up? She flaunts herself, she puts the nail in the coffin to Matanuska Maid. She put herself and her child at risk to have her child in Alaska. She tries to get her ex brother-in-law fired and said that she didn't know anything about it. Make no real comment until a month later. Whether you are a Republican or a Democrat, hello? How stupid can you be to fire Walt Monegan? This man is well respected on both sides of the fence. A smart person who didn't want Monegan to work for them anymore would have the balls to go to him and ask for his resignaton instead of this press frenzy and have your name dragged into the mud. Her husband is an idiot.

People keep trying to make the Governor's abuse of power about Trooper Wooten and Walt Monegan, but the bottom line is that the bread crumbs point at her abuse of poser as an elected official.
I hate the fact that Trooper Wooten was not fired a long time ago, but when you take into account that the Palin family didn't report most of his violations until 2 to 3 years after the fact and only had personal statements/testimony to back them up (no hard evidence) and they only came up while in court going through child custody hearings... it all seems a little fishy and understandable that nearly five years later he was disciplined and not fired.
Monegan has been a statesman in this and Palin has been a classless, snippity wench.

If it looks like crap and smells like crap then it is probable Governor Palin's excuses.
It seems as though every recent scandal that the Governor is involved in involves the Troopers and she looks to be gunning for them. I wonder if their contract was negotiated fairly under this climate of hostility from the Palin administration. Sarah Palin shows her true lack of aptitude for the job of Governor and absence of statesmanship when she goes on to the Bob and Mark show on a weekly basis. For Sarah to call into a show with two pigs like that reveals her lack of judgment.
Governor.... why did you use your news conference yesterday to slam Monegan, blame a staffer for your problems, fail to say it was your responsibility and not offer an apology to Monegan? Oh yah... you are never wrong sort of like Frank Murkowski.
It is pretty sad when the first thing the Governor of Alaska says to Bob and Mark when asked what she first thought when she heard the Bailey tape was, "I was surprised the Troopers recorded their calls" vs "Frank Bailey acted on his own, he is a liar, he is way out of line and has been fired!".
Governor you are a liar and I ma embarrassed to say I voted for you.

So Sarah expects us to believe that 24 phone calls were made without her knowledge and that it was a conspiracy by her staff to fire a Trooper none of them even knew about before joining Sarah's team? Hm......... It is either a huge conspiracy that Sarah does not know about or she is caught with her hand in the cookie jar 'AGAIN"!

Palin will send Bailey down the river...
Just like she did with Kopp. Self preservation is what it's all about, and Palin plays this game with the best. I can't believe they give Kopp ten grand and nothing to Monegan who served the state in the same position 26 times as long. Also, why did she not bring up the moose with Wooten until after the marriage went bad? She ate part of that moose so she tampered with evidence. Palin will buy enough votes with the "energy package" to get elected to a second term, don't be suprised if the amount goes up in election years for some kind of economic package to buy your vote. People want honest government, but everyone has a price, and a couple of thousand will buy most votes. We will see how much your average Alaskan will put up with from someone like Palin, who will buy your vote with an "energy package" than have an honest government.

I would make a prediction and it would be something like this....
After hearing the tape it is clear that Wooten's right to privacy was violated on several levels; his Workman's Comp.information, his hiring application, his HIPPA (?) rights on a federal level. I would predict that if he playes his cards right, gets a good lawyer and sues the state, he will retire before he is 40 and will never have to work another day again.
Ironically enough, what the queen sought to destroy, her incompetence will eventually reward beyond her wildest dreams.
Enjoy the plunder of Sarah's incompetence Mr. Wooten, when all is said and done you would have earned it.

I just don't get it. It takes a lot to amaze me but this has it. There are a few people out there that get the issue and the rest, well I just don't know.
People, this is beyond Wooten, Kopp and Monagen. Those of you that love Sarah, good for you keep up the good work, she needs all the support she can get. You can't change the fact, she has lied her way into a hole she can't get out of. My god, she has thrown people under the bus in the past few weeks to cover her tracks.
There is no way of sugarcoating any of this. Those of you who can't/won't accept the fact Wooten can't be fired now deal with it. He will eventually go on his own volition. Monagen WAS fired and regardless of being "at will" it still doesn't make it right or legal.
Kopp, well we all know Kopp did himself in but hey it was comical. All the conspiracy freaks go get a life. Ralph, man your posts are comical but hey when someone has a record like you, credibility is an issue.
There are few people here who have it right. Art Chance and AkCop. Some of you ought to listen to them. Me, just like my name implies, I like to stir the pot. What really makes this all interesting is how certain posts just disappear without a trace. Yes ADN, I am counting and would like to know where the post I made last night went to. It was a good argument that I am sure the rest of the masses would have liked to see but, I am sure you got a call from AST and removed it. So much for the 1st Amendment huh????

Sarah needs to send Todd packing. This guy keeps sneaking around behind her back and poking into trouble when he just needs to go on out there and ride his snowmachines and leave the governing to his wife. She was elected; he wasn't. I'm sure she has been a bit naive about the goings on, to a degree, but I also think she's known all along that you don't just drop a little info like "I'd like it if somebody did something about that asshole Wooten" and think some brownnoser isn't going to take up the cause to gain favor with her. I really thought there for a minute or two that she had nothing to worry about. Now it seems I'm wrong. What a shame that she's taken down by the very same things she was fighting to clean up in our state's government. It's looking more and more that she's one of them. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
And as far as Wooten and the other sheisty troopers in the ranks, there needs to be an investigation outside of the State to clean these dirty bastards out of the system. Internal investigations? Good grief, that's like asking the fox to guard the henhouse. We're in deep kimchi, folks, as long as this stuff continues.

I'm a lot more concerned about the fact that Wooten is making death threats than about the circumstances surrounding Monegan's dismissal. There seem to be very good reasons for relieving Wooten of his duties as a Trooper, namely public safety. If Monegan wasn't fulfilling his responsibilities by ensuring that the Troopers are safe and reliable individuals on the job, then his firing was probably justified.

Commissioner Walt Monegan
Commissioner Walt Monegan, your life long commitment to public safety is commendable. We have seen nepotism long enough even in these small villages across the State of Alaska, that era has to come to an end, now. Only those who are absolutely true to their word usually emerge triumphant, and I know yours will. God Speed.
