We had our border collie in Agility training (and he was doing great, too!) until he started going blind at about 18 months of age. It was a real disappointment to both of us - we really enjoyed this sport - even if he did run circles around me (L)!
I am now starting our youngest dog, Abby, in Rally competition. This is sort of a "Obedience competition" but on leash and around lots of interesting obedience-related obstacles on a timed course. Doing all the required elements is more important than speed, so we have a chance here.
Rally is loads of fun - and great for someone like me who doesn't really have the energy needed for agility anymore anyway (L). Abby is also no border collie (very laid-back) so the slower pace suits her. She wouldn't have been too good at agility - and isn't much interested in fetch, so wouldn't be much of a flyball dog either. Rally is great for us! :)
